Assange: justice denied again as court declines to admit new evidence of US murder plots

Wikileaks founder will remain in Belmarsh prison while judges seek further meaningless ‘assurances’ from US

The High Court has this morning again denied justice to persecuted Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. Despite admitting that the US is denying Assange’s rights to free speech and is pursuing him in a way that it would not pursue one of its own citizens, judges have decided to keep Assange in Belmarsh prison while it asks for further ‘assurances’ that the US will not kill him – even though there has been longstanding evidence of US plans to murder him outside the US.

Shamefully, the court has also declined to admit fresh evidence of US plots to assassinate him, claiming that the evidence is irrelevant because the US’s incentive to murder Assange would not apply if it had him in custody, as Declassified UK has pointed out:

The extradition case should have been laughed out of court three years ago, when the main US witness admitted he had been lying all along in his claim that Assange induced him to hack US systems. Instead, Assange has been submitted to what former UN Special Rapporteur on torture Nils Melzer described as sustained psychological torture – and still faces the likelihood of imprisonment for more than a century in US retaliation for Wikileaks exposing its war crimes in Iraq and as a deterrent to other journalists who might expose its crimes in future.

Shame on the UK and its travesty of justice and democracy. Free Julian Assange. Protect real journalism.

  1. The partner of a USA diplomat last year was questioned by a UK magistrate (re a young British bikers death) via video link from the USA. The Assange case should be dropped & JA set free but at least as a last resort if all fails we should demand parity for him. One rule for one, one rule for others? Free Assange!

    1. Protect real journalism

About time journalists got off their craven fat arses and did their bit to aid his plight, seeing as he gave them their column inches and autocue feeds.

… But they’re not going to.

Pains me to say it, but Assange ain’t goin’ anywhere – not until they cart him out in a wooden overcoat.

      1. All the lickspittle scribblers have done is to enrich themselves further from stories of his plight.

  2. The court’s view on US threats to kill Assange is Pythonesque, but without the humour.

  3. Personally I think that the Tory government are playing for time. They will be more than happy to be able to wash their hands of this and dump the final ministerial decisions on Assange’s extradition in the lap of a Labour government to deal with.

  4. Yeah, and we all know how that ends up. Keef’s still chewing the corners of the carpet from when tess may refused to extradite Gary MacKinnon.

  5. It is NOT Julian Assange who is on trial but the Justice Systems in GB & USA along with their MSM accomplices. Julian is being crucified as a warning to all journalists that should they dare expose war crimes committed by any ‘western’ military, there will be consequences. Israel will not be held to account & has ignored all UN resolutions since its inception without sanction or criticism. Freedom of Speech may be a basic premise of any democracy & protected by Charter of the 4th Estate, but Michael Gove is returning to an era post WW2 McCarthyism HUAC – UK version where protest & pro-Palestinian speech is ‘un-British’ & a hate crime. Unfortunately there is no MSM British equivalent of Ed Murrow & the only journalist who dared who dared question ‘the establishment’ resides in Belmarsh High Security Prison. A Sign of the Times & the Shape of Things to Come. The Rule of Law has nothing to do with Fairness or Justice & MSM does NOT serve the interests of ‘the People’.

Sleight problem, your favourite Human Rights Lawyer the Fuhrer is always challenged each morning when he has to choose whose arse to climb up that day
      The Yanks or Israel
      Methinks
Assange will get no help from Red Tories

    1. The most important ideology behind Bob Marley’s songs of revolution was that they were NOT about Black Power.
