‘Labour Bloc’ to join National March for Palestine on Saturday

A number of Labour organisations will join the Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s ‘National March for Palestine’ on Saturday. The ‘Labour Bloc’ umbrella group’s announcement says:

Join the Labour Bloc on the National March for Palestine on 13th January!

Labour members opposed to Israel’s assault on Gaza and for a ceasefire will be marching in a contingent on next Saturday’s National March for Palestine.

The Labour Bloc will be assembling from 11.45 am outside St Edmund, King and Martyr Church, at the corner of George Yard and Lombard Street, London EC3V 9EA (Map link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/FpiyJH2VwTAH4ttk6)

The contingent is sponsored by the Campaign for Labour Party Democracy, Momentum, Labour Women Leading, Labour and Palestine, Labour CND, Arise – a Festival of Left Ideas and Welsh Labour Grassroots, along with supportive websites Labour Hub, Labour Outlook and Left Horizons. The contingent will be addressed by MPs John McDonnell, Diane Abbott and Bell Ribeiro-Addy.

  1. There will also be a substantial Jewish Bloc.
Important to demonstrate that many Jews do not support the Terrorist State of Israel and its mass murder of the Palestinians.
Also important to deflect the false accusations of anti-Semitism which are being promoted by the usual apologists for Israeli Apartheid.

  2. Well Done! Shame Sir Keir rigger Starmer, the supposed leader of your party.

  3. I cannot understand why any socialist, including Skwawkbox, would wish to have any association with Labour no matter what the title. They’ve had multiple opportunities to do the right thing, and failed. **** the lot of them. If they walk, they walk without me.

  4. I cannot understand how any self-respecting socialist would want any association with this bunch of traitors. They’ve had years to make good their mistakes but have denied any error, so **** the lot of them. If they do walk they walk without me.

    1. Great read SteveH. Thanks for directing me to it. Her moral compulsion is fantastic …

  5. “………… the supposed leader of YOUR party”
If you are meaning “my party”, that’s no longer true.
I was a Labour Party member.
In fact, I was chair of my local party branch until I resigned in disgust around 9 months ago.
DISGUST – Because I could no longer stand the corrupt corpse that is all that now remains of the party in which I was once proud to be an activist
I appear to have been excluded by stealth.
I have not resigned from the party and I have not been notified of suspension or exclusion from membership.
About two years ago, I was persuaded to switch my membership subscription from annual payment to direct debit.
Since then, I haven’t heard a word from the party.
They have not actioned my direct debit, and I have not received any communications from them …… Not even the usual begging letters.
    Am I bothered ?
    Fuck ’em.
The party is lost to those of us who call ourselves socialists.
You might ask – What took me so long ?
    I ask myself the same.

    1. Good on yer johnsco1. Me too!
No, my message was written to the subject of Skwawkies article (‘you’ was ‘Labour left organisations’). Sorry for the mix-up. I’ve far too much respect for the author of johnsco1 posts to assume he/she/they are still in Labour.

  6. Would love to be there. However, my local Friends of Palestine group put out feelers to everyone on their email list regarding hiring a coach (£1800 for the day, apparently) and only got 25 takers, so scrapped the idea.

That’s the level of political consciousness of yer bog standard Red Tory constituency these days, one which managed to raise 2 or 3 coaches-worth for the anti-Iraq war demo 20 years ago.The hasbara’s done a bang-up job on them.

  7. And what’s the betting the UK/NATO launch an attack on the Houti rebels to focus the media gaze away from South Africa’s ICC genocide case against Israel in The Hague on Thurs & Fri and, if they can swing it, away from Saturday’s demo, too. That plus the Post Office scandal which is still the top news item so that should be enough to cover-up Israel’s (and our) disgrace!
