Starmer sacks Jewish staffer for helping organise pro-Gaza protests

Ben Soffa is Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s national secretary

Keir Starmer’s regime has forced out a Jewish senior staff member for organising protests for a ceasefire in Israel’s slaughter of Gazan civilians.

Ben Soffa was Labour’s head of digital campaigns and also – never a secret, as he has frequently appeared in the media speaking for the group, as in the image above – national secretary of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC).

But now Soffa has been sacked or, to quote the party’s euphemism, been moved on. Right-wing media and politicians have reported the sacking, but have conveniently omitted that Soffa is Jewish – presumably because the idea of Jewish people supporting Palestinians and condemning Israeli apartheid and genocide would be disruptive to the Establishment narrative that all Jews are fundamentally pro-Israel.

The same narrative appears to have led to the removal on Wednesday of a BBC article header image showing a banner of the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network (IJAN) featuring prominently at a recent pro-Gaza, pro-peace, anti-genocide rally. Other Jewish groups have also played a leading role.
