Video: Merseysiders gather at site of far-right violence to say ‘Refugees are welcome here’

‘Refugees are welcome here – fascism isn’t’, say crowds gathering to counter hate

A large demonstration of Merseysides gathered in Knowsley this weekend at the Suites Knowsley hotel – the scene last week of far-right violence and hate toward refugees housed by the government at the hotel – to say loud and clear that refugees are welcome here and fascism is not.

The Merseyside Pensioners Alliance were there to record the show of humanity and solidarity:

The Tories – and the Labour front bench – are all too happy to fan divisions and hatred and scapegoat the vulnerable to distract from the moral vacuum of their own souls, but they do not speak for most of us – least of all on Merseyside and it shows by the relentless attacks on Liverpool and its surrounds by those same privileged sacks of lard sitting on those parliamentary front benches.
