Skwawkbox interviewed former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, anti-apartheid activist and former ANC MP Andrew Feinstein and anti-apartheid journalist Pearlie Joubert yesterday at the ‘Free Assange human chain’ demonstration around the Houses of Parliament, an event and a whole topic shamefully ignored by most of the UK’s so-called ‘mainstream’ media and supposed ‘opposition’.
In this short video, Corbyn explains why simply telling the truth has seen the UK and US governments hound and imprison Wikileaks journalist Julian Assange and talks of the horrific conditions of Assange’s confinement in Belmarsh prison, then Feinstein and Joubert discuss the UK’s broken democracy and the chilling parallels between this country and apartheid South Africa, including the revelation of comments from Nelson Mandela that are all too relevant to the UK today.
