Italy confirms national lockdown – 14 days for all bar essential personnel

Italy has confirmed its total national quarantine, which the SKWAWKBOX reported earlier that it was considering.

This will involve lockdown for 14 days for every citizen barring essential public service personnel.

The UK is approximately twelve days behind Italy in terms of number of cases and rate of spread.

  1. An effective “lockdown” for a long enough period (maybe longer than 14 days) could actually reset the clock to a couple of days from the beginning. Newly-infected would be far fewer and more easily discovered and hospital beds more available.

Johnson’s apparently laissez faire approach “Let it burn itself out” will turn out to be the worst of all worlds unless he gets lucky and the threat of no assistance makes everyone in the country voluntarily self-isolate, food or no food.
