In another shock to the right-wing Labour heartland of the West Midlands, Warley CLP (constituency Labour party) has voted this evening by 176 votes to 114 to switch to an all-member meeting structure, under Labour rules introduced at last year’s annual conference in Liverpool.
Warley MP John Spellar is a founder of the right-wing Labour First movement and local members have long complained that he used the delegate meeting structure to maintain control of the CLP’s business, including sending delegates to the CLP from the Brandhall Labour Club he part-owns.
Spellar reportedly looked less than delighted.
On the same evening, as the SKWAWKBOX announced, Manchester Central CLP also voted to switch to all-member meetings.

I feel sorry for all those voters who voted Labour and now got a Libdem.
At the very least it should be that if an incumbent leaves the Party they represent, then they stand on their own 2 feet as an independent until the next election. If they join an new Party they should call a By-election and give the voters a honest choice.
Just shows what a completely inadequate shit voting system we have , so much to change when we get into power !

Spellar is a member of the Defence Select Committee which recently decided to back President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the INF missile treaty. In doing so the Committee has put us all at risk.
No wonder John Golding called him ‘hard right’.
I hope that Labour Party members in his constituency will quiz him on this terrible behaviour.
