Liverpool Labour front-bencher Dan Carden and Liverpool Left are hosting a fundraiser next month in Carden’s Liverpool Walton constituency to raise funds for campaigning at the next general election – which could be at any moment.
In a demonstration of Liverpool’s red credentials and solidarity – and of the vibrancy of the movement in spite of ceaseless Establishment attacks – it will be a night of great speakers and great music – and two great women speakers to be confirmed.
Tickets are £10 waged and £3 unwaged. The event will take place on 1 March at the Isla Gladstone Conservatory in Stanley Park – right between the Anfield and Goodison Park football grounds.
In a twist on the usual fundraiser and a sign of left solidarity, because Walton is one of the safest Labour seats in the country the funds raised will be used to enable Walton members to campaign alongside their colleagues in two other constituencies in the north-west: Crewe and Nantwich, which the excellent Laura Smith won for Labour by just 48 votes in 2017 and Blackpool North and Cleveleys, where Chris Webb is looking to overturn a narrow Tory lead.
The venue seats only three hundred and is expected to sell out rapidly, so if you can make it and want to attend, get your order in quickly here.
