Met declines to provide even basic update on Skripals – in spite of 30 days of silence

The last press release on the condition of Yulia Skripal and her father Sergei was published by the Metropolitan Police a month ago tomorrow – 11 April.

Since then, not a peep.

That release – which many considered to be oddly worded and possibly dictated by an official – claimed that Ms Skripal did not want Russian embassy personnel, or even family members, to even try to contact her and described her still-fragile condition. Sergei was no longer critical but was still too ill to leave hospital.

I have specially trained officers available to me, who are helping to take care of me and to explain the investigative processes that are being undertaken. I have access to friends and family, and I have been made aware of my specific contacts at the Russian Embassy who have kindly offered me their assistance in any way they can. At the moment I do not wish to avail myself of their services, but, if I change my mind I know how to contact them.

Most importantly, I am safe and feeling better as time goes by, but I am not yet strong enough to give a full interview to the media, as I one day hope to do. Until that time, I want to stress that no one speaks for me, or for my father, but ourselves. I thank my cousin Viktoria for her concern for us, but ask that she does not visit me or try to contact me for the time being. Her opinions and assertions are not mine and they are not my father’s.

For the moment I do not wish to speak to the press or the media, and ask for their understanding and patience whilst I try to come to terms with my current situation.

Are we to believe that there has been no change at all in their condition and no developments at all in their situation or recollections worth communicating to the public even in the most generic terms?

The SKWAWKBOX contacted the Met’s press office to find out whether any news was available, or at least planned, but was told nothing could be provided beyond the news on the force’s website – the 11 April release – and the Met declined to say when any update might be forthcoming.

This was a series of events that led to the mass expulsion of Russian diplomats from more than twenty countries – and still has areas of Salisbury closed off for decontamination.

Yet all we’ve been offered for a month is a strange silence.

    1. I sincerely hope not.

I hope they are still recovering well and are not under any coercive, restrictive or psychological ‘pressures’ or influence.

  1. We also had an alleged chemical attack in Syria which led to Theresa May committing a war crime. Neither have we heard much of an update from the Government on the OPCW investigation.

    1. THE HAGUE, Netherlands — 4 May 2018 — The initial deployment of the Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) to gather facts in Douma, Syrian Arab Republic is complete. The Director-General thanked the FFM team members for their courage and professionalism. Samples were brought to the OPCW Laboratory where they will be split and then dispatched to the OPCW designated laboratories. The analysis of the samples may take at least three to four weeks. Meanwhile, the FFM will continue its work to collect more information and material. At this time, it is not possible to give a timeframe for when the Douma report will be issued to States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention.

  2. This is no longer just a matter of whether the government is being mendacious or not. It is now a question of whether these people are being held incommunicado against their will.

  3. Mmmn the Sound of Media Silence, kicking the awkward into the long grass so people will forget? But some of us never forget.

    1. True and I never forget what demonizing a foreign government campaigns lead to …Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, Syria etc. etc. etc.

Western ‘democracy’ of death and destruction will be imposed by ‘any and all means possible’ on countries that resist western ‘democratic’ plunder and obscene impoverishment for the majority of their citizens.

      1. Regarding Iraq, this is what Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell had to say about it just a year or two before the invasion, based on the Big Lie – amongst others – that Saddam Hussein possesed WMD (it’s just over a minute long):

  4. Skwawkbox doing the job our so called free main media should be doing holding power/government to account.
The only way free applies to UK MSM is free to release government press releases without question, presenting them as fact.

  5. It was always on the cards that May and the Home Office officials would what they usually do when things get awkward. Kick it into the long grass until people forget about it. It does make you think that there’s a lot more to it.

  6. It is my privilege and pleasure to resuscitate a genuine English word that, having fallen out of common parlance, was excluded from most dictionaries. Today however, it has resumed its pertinence. KAKISTOCRACY: A form of government in which the worst persons are in power.

    1. Hold your smugness! Max Keiser on RT’s Keiser Report has been using the word for years. A great word for dropping into conversations though.

      1. Smug?…Me? Nah, my statement’s not a matter of pride as much as an interest in etymology. Max Keiser though…he’s one of the very few TV personalities I like and I watch his excellent Report as often as I can. I’m not aware of his use of ‘kakistocracy’, perhaps because I miss out on many of his shows ‘cos I don’t watch much TV…it’s just not my cuppa tea. Bye y’all!

    2. I agree Max Keiser is worth listening to. He coined ‘banksters’. My preference is ‘corporacy’ which is insidiously degrading our democracy.

  7. “At the very beginning of the of the Skripal incident, the security services blocked by D(SMA) notice any media mention of Pablo Miller and told the media not to look at Orbis and the Steele dossier on Trump, acting immediately to get out their message via trusties in the BBC and Guardian.”

Craig Murray has a likely answer on his excellent blog over a series of posts. Well worth reading the comments sections on his posts too – as with The Skwawkbox too, of course!

  8. Please Skwawkbox make a much bigger stink over this obvious False Flag incident: the Skripal’s remain in grave danger. Our silence is allowing time for government agents to subject them to therapies designed to eradicate memory so that a brief, innocuous, well controlled exposure to the press can be staged before the Skripals are permanently “disappeared.” If that all sounds too farfetched just look at the lengths our government went to in the past subverting the truth over extraordinary rendition.

There are massive flaws in the official story being spun by the MSM on behalf of the PM and her feeble Tory government. Exposing the truth might expedite the Skripal’s release from dangerous malign custody but it could also topple this corrupt government. The official “story” doesn’t hold up to cursory scrutiny so whitewashed over the truth must be prevented. Do not ignore valid concerns as conspiracy theory hype, please visit the Blog of Craig Murray, Former Ambassador to Uzbekistan: https://www.craigmurray.org.uk/ . This particular Blog post by him sums up the Tory Government’s False Flag fiasco best:

“Meanwhile in Salisbury we are going to have a great propaganda theatre of destruction, as places which people were allowed to frequent for weeks after the attack are demolished, to eradicate a strange liquid that is ten times more deadly than VX but at the same time ineffective, and is liquid but cannot be diluted, except its dilution was why it did not kill anybody, and which cannot be washed away, except if you got it on your clothes you are perfectly safe if you wash them, and which made hundreds of people sick except there were only three of them.”

This represents just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to serious unexplained discrepancies in the Skripal case. We cannot continue with this complacent, compliant ignorance over dangerous Tory propaganda; no doubt the public will be fed a lot more incredulous lies in future. A highly credible commentator, Murray has been extremely vocal in calling for disclosure of the facts by authorities and demanding the attention of dedicated investigative journalists. Skwawkbox is in a unique position to be in the vanguard of this overdue exposure of the truth.

My logical theory is that in or close to the Zizzi Restaurant the Skripals were temporarily incapacitated, either accidentally from seafood poisoning or by design using BZ or another agent. Only when they were at the hospital in a strictly controlled anaesthesia environment, intubated, with their airway secure and vital signs carefully monitored, would it have been possible for the Skripal’s to receive a non-lethal exposure to Novichok. Immediate treatment with Atropine would have been planned in advance anticipation of the known damage expected from the Novichok. Traces of this limited and well controlled exposure would be present in blood samples taken that might later be used in evidence.

It would not necessarily have aroused the suspicion of the regular hospital staff when a specially trained Haz-Mat team from Porton Down took over the resuscitation and ICU care of the Skripals after such a highly dangerous chemical was implicated. This theory accounts for the mysterious absence of collateral damage to bystanders despite the potential for multiple contacts as well as the lax management of toxic contamination in several public spaces early on. It would also explain the lengthy four plus hour time lag before the targeted individuals experienced any symptoms and the inexplicable survival of the Skripals despite the extreme toxicity of Novichok. Evidence of Novichok exposure present in blood samples tested by designated OPCW laboratories will be predictably positive.

Why not kill the selected victims outright? A rapid death would not stay in the news cycle for as long and might not create as much public outrage as needed for this false flag incident to cause the required uproar. The desperate attempt to rapidly pin the blame on Russia while refusing to produce any evidence and not immediately calling in the OPCW should have aroused a lot more suspicion by the MSM. This contravened standard UK legal obligations and accepted international protocols. However, it is not too late to push the case for full disclosure and accountability: please, please Skwawkbox weigh in heavily to expose this false flag cover-up.

Equally alarming, the most credible evidence so far regarding the alleged Syrian chemical weapons attack indicates yet another major false flag used to justify overseas aggression. These two incidents are probably linked, both part of the agenda to demonize Russia and increase tensions while distracting from an appalling track record of Tory government chaos and failure. The UK public deserves to know the truth about both of these incidents as we rely on Skwawkbox and other alternative news outlets to pressure MSM into doing their journalistic duty.

    1. I have little doubt that it was ALL staged, and the script written months beforehand, and the Skripals were in on it from the outset – and the cop who was supposedly contaminated also. Funny isn’t it how both the Skripals started reacting (to the substance they were supposedly contaminated with) at exactly the same moment, and to the degree that neither one of them was able to call for an ambulance for the other one before THEY were ‘incapacitated’. The chances of THAT happening are absolute zero! They were acting.

And of course Vladimir Putin had no motive whatsoever to do such a thing – ie order it done – or are we supposed to believe that some eight years after Sergei Skripal was released from prison as part of a spy swap and came to live in the UK he – Mr Putin – suddenly decided he would like to have him bumped off, and thought it would also be a great idea to wait until his daughter Yulia goes to visit her Dad, and bump her off as well at the same time, AND to use a chemical agent that could potentially kill dozens, and possibly hundreds of people. Yes, of course, it all makes perfect sense doesn’t it! As does the timing – ie precisely two days before the pre-planned events to celebrate 100 days to go until the World Cup Football kicks off AND just over three months to the big event itself. Vladimir no doubt thought that doing such a thing at such a time would be great PR for the World Cup Footie AND for Russia in general.

As for the absence of any update from the police; as someone else pointed out in their post on this page, it has served its purpose, and of course the story had a happy ending and they all lived happily ever after, and so it will now be a case of keeping it out of sight and, as such, out of mind, especially as we draw closer to the footie AND the emotional effects of it all dissipate and, well, Joe/Jo public might begin to think rationally about the whole episode and start wondering why Vladimir Putin would think to do such a thing just a few months beforehand (before the World Cup). So best not to mention it again. And don’t worry, the high-ups in the MSM are all in on it and won’t be raising the matter again. And, on THAT point, I wonder if we’ll ever get to hear the result of the police investigation as to who dunnit. I bet it was the woman with the red handbag wot did it. The handbag was a dead giveaway!

      https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/5742937/cops-hunt-blonde-woman-seen-on-cctv-20-mins-before-ex-russian-spy-spy-sergei-skripal-and-daughter-yulia-were-poisoned/

Afterthought: Could it in fact have been Vladimir himself…….dressed up as a woman with a blonde wig on? Wouldn’t surprise me one bit!

      1. Apologies, but I just want to amend the first sentence of the second paragraph of my post above:

‘And of course Vladimir Putin had no motive whatsoever to do such a thing anyway…….’

  9. The Skripal saga has served its purpose in generating Russophobia and justifying Western strikes on Syria. Trust me, there is no way that Joe and Jo Public will ever hear anything of either of the Skripals ever again.

They will return to the obscurity from whence they came. The story has run its course. It’s over.

The “need” for the powers that be to keep on beating the war drum will remain, but new ‘fake news’ vehicles will be used for this.

  10. And further more – regarding the police investigation in to who did it – if, as we were led to believe is the case, the May government passed on enough intelligence to convince our American and European allies that it was all down to Bad Vlad and the Ruskies and, as such, they were all so convinced by the evidence that to one degree or another they expelled Russian diplomats, then how come May and Co didn’t pass said intelligence on to the police. I mean it seems inconcievable that they WOULDN’T have done, and yet if they HAD, then surely the police would have been as convinced as our allies supposedly were that it was the Russians that did it and, as such, wrapped up their investigation and reported their findings. And done so WEEKS ago! But they didn’t. And they still haven’t. I wonder why that is! Perhaps they’re still looking for the woman with the red handbag. THAT would explain it.

      1. Salisbury is an example of the UK’s malign activities that, hopefully, risks turning the country into an “isolated pariah”.

      2. In a word, No. And what “international rules” might they be? Of course we here in the West never-ever breach international rules do we?

As I said before, the chances of the Skripals becoming ‘incapacitated’ at exactly the same moment is absolute zero.
