Why did a SKWAWKBOX email re anti-racism make 41 MPs and 3 Peers run to the HuffPost?

It’s amazing what a simple email can do sometimes. Just ask the Tories, whose connections to Cambridge Analytica and their behaviour in outing a gay Muslim man for political purposes threaten to bring their house of cards down.

Monday’s ‘Enough is enough’ protest outside Parliament expressed the legitimate concerns of some of the UK’s Jewish people, but as journalist Mehdi Hasan observed:

mehdi

There are many Jewish members of the Labour Party who wholeheartedly agree with him.

Comedian Francesca Martinez went further, saying:

A word on the latest Corbyn ‘mural’ outrage.

This is, as always, about politics. If anyone needs convincing, please read about other socialist leaders around the world. They are routinely called commies, anti-semitic, insane etc. It is an age-old tactic.

Corbyn can’t be touched on policy so they have to manufacture shit-storms.
He is a life-long anti-racist campaigner with a thirty year record of standing against racism in all its forms. He is one of only 8% of MPs to have signed the five UK parliamentary motions that condemned antisemitism.

No other MP has such a record of commitment to fighting racism and anti-semitism.
While we’re all debating whether Corbyn’s a spy or a Putin stooge, or an anti-semite, people are dying in NHS corridors, disabled people are starving to death, our public services are being cut, our assets are being privatised, our wages are being driven down, our environment is plundered and polluted, and wealth and power remain in the hands of the 1%.

Make no mistake, this is a war.
If Corbyn goes, we, the 99%, all lose.

We will never achieve a more equal, democratic, humane and peaceful society, if we allow the elites to destroy anyone who stands up against them.

There were Labour MPs at the demonstration who were attending their first-ever anti-racism rally – yet were criticising the ‘life-long anti-racist campaigner’ who leads the Labour Party.

Labour MPs record – or lack of it – in combating racism before they picked up an ‘Enough is enough’ placard is a legitimate subject of enquiry.

So we enquired.

The SKWAWKBOX wrote a polite email to five Labour MPs who were at, or expressed support for, Monday’s demonstration: Ian Austin, Wes Streeting, John Woodcock, Jess Phillips and Stella Creasy.

With very minor variations, we asked them:

We’ll be running a piece later today on MPs’ participation in last night’s demonstration and their overall activity in terms of combating racism.

Please advise any comment about your participation last night that you wish to have included and provide examples of the following:

1. you publicly denouncing Islamophobia
2. you publicly denouncing racism toward black people and other ethnic minorities
3. Examples of you participating in public demonstrations against Islamophobia and racism toward black and other ethnic groups

By 5pm please, to ensure it can be included at publication.

Ian Austin

The SKWAWKBOX and Ian Austin can hardly be described as friends and it’s exceedingly rare we’d have anything complimentary to say about each other. But Mr Austin engaged with the questions and provided a substantive response, for which we complimented him sincerely. His answer:I could send loads of examples, but here’s a couple just from the last few weeks.

Here’s a recent article from the Express and Star about the forthcoming anniversary of Enoch Powell’s Rivers of Blood speech. It celebrates the diversity and unity of communities in the West Midlands and the contribution people from around the world have made to the region:

https://www.expressandstar.com/news/voices/opinions/2018/02/19/ian-austin-there-is-nothing-to-celebrate-in-powells-shameful-words/

Here’s my comments and a video of me denouncing the disgraceful “Punish a Muslim” day planned for next week and the work I’ll be doing to oppose it:

https://twitter.com/IanAustinMP/status/973254073058250752

I’ve attached a video of me speaking in Parliament about this which I am sure you will want to use.

Indeed. Here it is:

Mr Austin is clearly not afraid to stand on his record of resisting racism and bigotry – whether that be antisemitism, Islamophobia or other forms.

Credit where it’s due.

His colleagues, however, seemed less willing to face the question. They took a different approach.

John Woodcock

Some time ago, when we asked Stella Creasy about the appropriateness of partying with a Tory MP when his party is causing so much damage and misery to vulnerable people, she decided to try to pre-empt the scrutiny by publishing the email herself. It didn’t end well.

Nonetheless, Mr Woodcock took the same tack and published the SKWAWKBOX’s email in a tweet:

woodcock.png

Mr Woodcock tagged a number of organisations in his tweet in what appeared to be an attempt to invite ‘dogpiling’ – yet apparently considers a polite enquiry to be ‘targeting’. Sure enough, the dogpiling ensued – but with a lot of others pointing out his hypocrisy, too.

The nuisance

Curiously, a short time after sending the enquiries, the email address used to send the emails was flooded by subscription confirmations from a large number of parliamentary information services:

nuisance sign-ups cropped.png

Of course, none of our parliamentary representatives would be so immature as to respond to a polite email by using the SKWAWKBOX’s email address to register nuisance sign-ups in an attempt to inconvenience the blog. But the timing is curious.

The Huffington Post

Four of the MPs, with the apparent exception of Mr Austin (bravo again) then reacted very curiously indeed to a polite email – by running to the Huffington Post with an ‘open letter’.

The letter – which selectively quoted the SKWAWKBOX email to miscast it as ‘demanding’ – had been rapidly signed by forty-one MPs and three Peers, to get the ‘Huff Post’ to write an article attacking the SKWAWKBOX for ‘bullying’ MPs:

hp bull

Interestingly, the article claimed – again in an echo of an article published after Ms Creasy went public with our earlier polite request – that we had ‘demanded they provide examples‘ of their anti-racism activities. A serious exaggeration, given the wording shown above.

It’s also worth noting that the SKWAWKBOX was attacked, in that earlier example, for ‘only’ giving Ms Creasy ninety minutes to respond – providing a publishing deadline with a press enquiry is perfectly normal.

Yet the HP’s request for comment to us was received at 19.52hrs on Tuesday evening, chased only ten minutes later – and the HP article was published only 39 minutes after the first enquiry.

Our enquiry on Tuesday asked for information more than 3.5 hours before the deadline.

So who was being ‘demanding’?

The article also – as can be seen in the screengrab above – quotes an MP saying ‘We will not be deterred by threats‘.

But no ‘threat’ was made. In accordance with usual practice, we outlined the article we were planning to publish and asked for a comment, if they wanted one to be included.

These rather obvious points seem not to have occurred to HP journalists Kate Forrester and Rachel Wearmouth in their presentation of a polite email request as something sinister.

Perhaps not their finest hour.

The article also quotes the ‘Community Security Trust’ condemning the polite email enquiry as ‘utterly pathetic and malicious’.

Yes, probably not its authors’ finest hour.

Stella Creasy

Ms Creasy’s defence of her anti-racism record in the article consists of telling the HP:

Whether it’s Ian Austin organising to visit lots of mosques in his constituency, Wes Streeting chairing the APPG on British Muslims or me working with Tell Mama, this attack is clearly without any foundation.

We’ve already applauded Mr Austin for his efforts against Islamophobia. Chairing an All-Party Parliamentary Group ‘on British Muslims’ might not be seen by British Muslims as particularly strenuous on their behalf on the part of Wes Streeting – especially as the group was only formed eight months ago.

But ‘Tell Mama’s comment in the article rather takes the wind out of Ms Creasy’s righteous sails:

tellmama this month.png

Ms Creasy’s contribution to the question about her anti-racist activities consisted of her involvement with an anti-Islamophobia charity that she only initiated a couple of weeks ago.

And before that?

Well, before that – as the SKWAWKBOX exclusively revealed – Ms Creasy caused great offence among her black parliamentary colleagues and constituents by sending a racist trope image to their shared WhatsApp group:

creasy kia-ora w

Ms Creasy was forced to apologise – claiming that she did not realise the cartoon was racist.

Which is very interesting indeed given her participation in a protest triggered by Jeremy Corbyn’s Facebook comment about a mural he hadn’t looked at closely enough.

Ms Creasy’s partner, Dan fox, was also forced to apologise after making a ‘racist and abusive’ tweet about a black, Jewish woman.

Jess Phillips

Birmingham Yardley MP responded to criticism of her motives in participating in Monday’s protest by tweeting:

DZPrSjfWkAYIIeB

We asked Ms Phillips to let us know when she had ‘[spoken] out against Islamophobia. She did not provide any response to the enquiry, but instead signed the HP’s ‘open letter’.

The accompanying HP article does not provide any detail of her pronouncements against Islamophobia.

Ms Phillips has however:

  • defended a friend against accusations that she labelled a sexually assaulted black woman as a liar
  • defended a fellow MP who resigned from Labour’s front bench for describing Pakistani men as rapists – in spite of praising Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg, who objects to abortion even in cases of rape, as a ‘real gent’
  • offended Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities by accusing them of ‘importing’ wives for their disabled sons
  • been criticised for her ‘white feminism’
  • infamously claimed to have told black Labour MP Diane Abbott to ‘fuck off’

Why and wherefore?

Why did forty-one MPs and three Peers hurriedly write an open letter to the Huffington Post after the SKWAWKBOX sent polite email enquiries to just five of them?

Why did only one of the MPs engage constructively with the enquiry and stand on his record?

The answers to the two questions may not be entirely unrelated.

The reaction may also have something to do with the list below of MPs who sponsored or signed an ‘EDM‘ (Early Day Motion) this month ‘unequivocally’ supporting Theresa May’s rush to blame Russia for the Salisbury poisoning.

The move was widely acknowledged to be an attempt to embarrass Jeremy Corbyn – whose more measured, cautious response looks entirely justified now that judicial evidence has emerged that the government has no certainty at all yet about the nature of the poison or where it was made.

After all, Theresa May was free to do what she had decided to do, whether or not a handful of Labour MPs voiced ‘unequivocal’ support.

Here are the Labour MPs who signed EDM 1071:

russia edm overlap.png

The names highlighted in yellow are the MPs who also signed the HP’s ‘open letter’. Four out of five MPs that the SKWAWKBOX contacted for comment about their anti-racism activities prior to Monday’s protest are included.

If Mehdi Hasan is correct about ‘walk[ing] and chew[ing] gum‘ – and Ms Martinez is correct that ‘outrage‘ expressed by some MPs about Corbyn’s reaction to a mural ‘is all about politics‘, then how does that tie in with the apparent over-reaction of forty-one MPs and three Peers to a simple, polite email?

An email that was handled without panic by one MP, who was happy to hold his anti-racism record up to scrutiny.

Given the rush to the press to attack ‘threats‘, ‘bullying‘ and ‘intimidation‘ that were simply not in the email – just who was guilty of threats, bullying and attempted intimidation?

And how should Labour members and supporters respond?

  1. Wasn’t that long ago when the Board of Deputies was at a rally holding up signs saying “Je Suis Charlie” and speaking up in support of free speech when it came to a publication that was way more racist than that mural. Odd how that doesn’t make them racists – but you can sure bet if it was the other way around they’d be using it to paint Corbyn as one.

  2. Jess Phillips also instigated a mini-coup to replace Dawn Butler as chair of the Women’s Parliamentary Labour Party. She does seem to have a problem with black women in authority

  3. Very powerful and exposes the massive hypocrisy of these so called Labour MPs. Genuinely staggered that Austin stood his ground and validated himself. I will never like him but kudos where it’s due.
    P.

  4. What an absolute joke they are for calling your email “bullying”, “intimidating” or “threatening” . Wtf. I wondered why they were called “melts” by some people, now I know, they melt into a puddle when asked simple questions. How will they cope if journalists do their job and ask tough questions. Respect to Ian.

  5. This is a tactic to shut down criticism, hence the anti semitism, they constantly mention Broad church, I disagree with there description. Broad church should mean different walks of life. Different jobs and standing in the community, but still having the same beliefs. This is not the case with these blairites, the way they think and act, should have no place in the Labour Party, and Corbyn has made his biggest mistake by cowering to them.

    1. He’s NOT cowering to them. He has been backed into a corner by his political enemies and the tory press with their lies and smears and distortion, and he realises that to stand any chance of survival – not just for himself but for “the many” also – he has to play ball with them.

Put it this way: What would YOU have him do, and how do you think his political enemies would react if he did?

      1. PS I forgot to ask skwawkbox if the huffpost contacted YOU for comment prior to posting the article.

      2. Point taken, but the problem is, you can’t ‘play ball’ with these people. They aren’t playing. Note how every apology ‘falls short’. Everyone knows how bullies work: once you start giving in, they don’t leave you alone. It’s really tough, but he has to stand up to them.

  6. Daily Mail, and John Mann, full of outrage that Labour has not dealt with complaints of anti semitism going back for more than two years and not dealing adequately with over 100 other allegations. Given that the right wing of the party controlled the NEC until very recently is that not their responsibility. Perhaps we should be levelling charges of anti semitism at those in power over past few years.

  7. Good point Jim Smith, the NEC were EXTREMELY active when it came to tracking down and purging members prior to Corbyn’s second election as leader for such heinous “crimes” as using the word “Blairite” or RTing the Green party.
Their diligence in this regard was unparallelled.
It would be great if they could apply some of this same regard to these AS cases, possibly Jeremy could do more, but he leads by example in his stand against AS, and is it really his job to deal with these incidents ? I would suggest not.

  8. Model motion regarding attacks on the Leader of the Labour Party.

Please submit through your branch or CLP, where possible as an emergency motion.

This branch/CLP recognises and applauds Jeremy Corbyn’s lifelong campaigning against all forms of racism and inequality.

We acknowledge the need to ceaselessly fight all forms of racism within and without the Labour Party and fully agree that anti-semitism will not be tolerated in the party.

A House of Commons Home Affairs Committee investigated anti-semitism in the Labour Party in 2016. The conclusion of that committee is as follows:

“Despite significant press and public attention on the Labour Party, and a number of revelations regarding inappropriate social media content, there exists no reliable, empirical evidence to support the notion that there is a higher prevalence of antisemitic attitudes within the Labour Party than any other political party.”

This branch/CLP believes that racism is a societal issue which needs to be comprehensively addressed across the whole country through education in all institutions, organisations and political parties.

The failure by by those attacking the Labour Party to approach anti-semitism in this broad and comprehensive manner and instead to focus almost exclusively on levelling accusations against the Leader of the Labour Party strongly indicates that many of the people attacking Jeremy Corbyn have a political agenda and are misusing the issue of racism to further that agenda.

This branch/CLP condemns synthetic charges of anti-semitism designed to deligitimise the leader of Her Majesty’s Most Loyal Opposition. This type of politically motivated interference in the democratic institutions and structures of not only the Labour Party but also, by association, parliament is completely unacceptable.

This CLP calls for the party to hold an immediate and full investigation into all accusations of anti-semitism in the party, with both those found guilty of anti-semitism and those found guilty of making false accusations of anti-semitism for political purposes being expelled from the party with immediate effect.

We request that this motion of support is sent to the Leader of the Labour Party, the NEC, the NCC and directly to every member of the PLP.

  9. They go to Huffpost because Huffpost is the home of anonymous anti-Corbyn festering. Those with a ‘name’ can shout from the Guardian, those who cannot achieve that have to crawl to the open arms of Huffpost.
This isn’t the first time, it won’t be the last. Huffpost hates Corbyn with a fury the S*n can only dream of.
Well worth a daily visit – always good for a laugh.

    1. Just as well you didn’t mention owt about a certain MP ‘Working hand-in-hand’ with the telegraph, because that’s DEFINITELY “A tradtional antisemitic slur.”

  10. What percentage of the 41 MPs are Co-op party ?
SB has nicely helped ID the hard core Blairites that will never accept JC as the democratically elected Labour leader and they now need to be deselected from within the Labour Party.
Suggestion,, that SB keeps a log of all correspondence with these red Tories and as and when their respective CLPs need evidence to substantiate the case for de-selection there is a ready resource available for them to access.
There is little point in continued commentating or fulminating over their actions , what is now needed is organising to carry out de-selections.
There must be readers of this blog who’s MP is on that list of 41 , it is imperative that they now initiate with their fellow CLP comrades the necessary organising to build the case for deselection.
I will be doing so and will be using my contacts within LAbour/Momo who feel similar to me , to help organise ” Unseat a red Tory ” action .
It is no pleasure to have to be doing this when we should all be fully focused on destroying the Tories but it appears that these 41 are intent on destroying Labour in their hatred of JC .They will use any weapon ( religion /faith/gender/ethnicity ) and any instance to do so .
THEY ARE A THREAT TO LABOURS OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN POWER AND HELP THE MANY ,, THEY MUST BE DESELECTED .

    1. 17 of the MPs who supported the Russia EDM, which was designed to undermine Mr Corbyn, were Cooperative Party MPs.

Which represents over half of the MPs sitting on Labour benches who signed the motion.

This statistic proves that the formerly honourable Cooperative Party has been captured and is now a Blairite caucus.

      1. Thanks, and as per your previous posts re the Co-op party Labour MUST now divest itself of this relationship , either that or the infestation of parasite Blairites are removed from the CO-Party and Labour can once again trust it to do business with

      2. I only make it 12 Coop/Lab Party MPs, still a third of their non-Scottish MPs. Scottish Coop Party MPs seem a different breed from the London-centric English & Welsh ones. The 12 Coop names I got (using software tools) that you can check against are:

        Bailey, Adrian
        Berger, Luciana
        Creasy, Stella
        Doughty, Stephen
        Ellman, Louise
        Evans, Chris
        Gapes, Mike
        Leslie, Chris
        Malhotra, Seema
        Snell, Gareth
        Turley, Anna
        Woodcock, John

    2. I’ve been mulling over if one of these Mp’s was my local Mp would I vote for them in the next election, would I risk losing a Labour MP thus possibly losing an election, I’m 100% Labour they are not. How many voters are thinking the same way? Deselection is possible in some seats but the main protagonists have their CLP’s loaded with family & friends making deselection near impossible, members are regularly left out of meetings for many reasons that have been covered by this blog over the past few years.

      1. Fibro appreciate the situation re membership exclusion , is it possible that you are not the only one in your CLP thinking this way .
Is it possible to organise and recruit those who wish to see change for the better in the CLP to come together and re-establish involvement from the grass roots up.
It will take time no doubt , but in sufficient numbers the corrupt family’s and friends can be overcome and turn the CLP over to what more than likely the vast majority of the members want .
Considering the Corbyn surge it is pretty clear to me that potentially the majority of Labour voting continuants would vote in even greater numbers for a true left wing JC supporting PPC, rather than a dishonest red Tory hiding behind the Labour banner and voters HAVING to vote for them as the best of worst choices .

      2. Sadly I don’t have a Labour MP a damn good candidate though who is right behind the movement, I’m trying hard to remember which of the so called centrist MP’s Skwawkbox has covered in the blog, all I can remember was it was a woman……decided to go through the list, my humble apologies if I still have it wrong but I believe it was Caroline Flint MP and her father is or was chair of the CLP, again my apologies if I’ve got the wrong person, what I won’t apologise for is all these MP’s calmly forgetting the NHS, Disabled & unemployed and worst of all the children who are suffering in growing numbers, the self interest is unbelievable. Since the last election my CLP are now fully on board after falling for the msm/MP’s warnings of a complete wipe out under JC, in a Tory stronghold we increased our vote to such an extent next election it will be not be a forgone result and people lapped up the policies even if they weren’t sure of JC

  11. Given that the original ‘outrage’ was against perceived anti-Semitism, the only anti-Semitism I’ve ever noticed is Zionists questioning the Jewishness of members of the JVL. Anti-Semitism is in the eye of the anti-Semite.

    1. This is part of a bigger issue. Labour has bought into the position that Jews are Zionist and that to challenge Zionism is therefore anti-Semitic.

This despite the fact that Jewish people are a diverse bunch and one of the the many things that opinions vary on is Zionism, yet the Labour Party believes that Jewish opinion is universally Zionist. This view is backed by Zionist groups Labour Friends of Israel and Jewish Labour Movement because it’s in their interests to do so.

Where I come from, assuming that any ethnic group is entirely monolithic in its views would be considered racist and as such, a similar attitude towards Jews is anti-Semitic.

  12. And by the way, do not be too quick to sing the praises of Ian Austin, he is still a mealy mouthed enemy of anyone in the LP who wants to see Jeremy Corbyn, a true Socialist, lead our country.

      1. Well, whoopie-f’kin-doo!

On the other hand, he weaponises antisemitism.

        Lovely bloke.

  13. Wow, the skwakbox is impressive in his accuracy and precision about reporting. Thank you so much for your work, things are way more clearer with your investigation, that is true journalism, BRAVO

  14. HufPo is now claiming, “On Sunday, a vocal contingent of anti-semitic Labour supporters started posting under the hashtag #PredictTheNextCorbynSmear on Twitter, mocking accusations that the party had a problem with anti-semitism and claiming the complaints were merely an attempt to undermine Corbyn’s leadership.”

So, apparently we’re all anti-semitic!!!” And it’s definitely not an anti Corbyn smear 😉

  15. SB U R A STAR!
(I wrote a poem a while back, the Right in Labour are the ‘Hawk’ and the ‘Canary’ is the members).
THE HAWK ON THE CANARY LANDED.
    PLAYING THE CHAMELEON’S PART.
AND SAID “I COME TO HEAL YOU.”
BUT FAILED TO REMOVE THE HEART.
AND THEN THE CANARY TURNED BACK INTO A LION.

  16. Great stuff, SB, virtually deadpan in the face of distractive hysterics, and all the more effective for it. HP, like all MSM outlets, are destined to wear their credibility thin to the point of transparency.

And props for nicely judged use of the word curious, to indicate a matter as existing somewhere on a continuum between benign and suspicious, hadn’t really appreciated its use in those terms before =)

  17. Out-f’kin-standing, sir. Take a bow!

    Always the victims…

F*cking state of stella greasy. What a snivelling wee sh*tehawk it is. And they complain of ‘abuse’ ?

Oh, and another thing. Ellman was on radio murkeyside yesterday, blaming Corbyn for the alleged rise in antisemitism both in and out of the party.

Yes – You read that correctly.

  18. Thanks for sharing that!

A few eggs on faeces now, innit? And rightfully so. Shameful behaviour.

Although this’ll no doubt remain quietly tucked away in Ulster. I very much doubt the English rags’ll run with this.

    Or any other media.

      1. Corbyn: ‘A nazi with manners’

I’ve just had to wipe the tea I just spluttered off my screen & keyboard… Oh, my aching sides! 😀

  19. I have no time for either side (israel or palestine) meself. A plague on both their houses.

So I’ve had it from both sides when I’ve made it known.

However, if someone told a blatant lie about me in an attempt to paint me as being ‘anti us’ or ‘pro them’ , then made a paltry unsubstantial apology of highly doubtful sincerity (in my opinion) on twitter once they realised what a gobshite they’ve been…

…I’d politely tell them to get bent.

I wonder if Pollard and the ‘brave’ (nameless) spokesman for the CAA are gonna go to the english press, or on morning Tv and offer their ‘profuse’ and ‘sincere’ apologies?

    Yeah, alright….

  20. Tory & New Labour MPs think anti-Semitism is totally unacceptable, unless it’s the Saudi crown prince (whose country has all sorts of anti-Semitic laws). Then it’s fine to roll out the red carpet for a blatant anti-Semite!

    1. Creasy et al , Whaaaaa I am being bullied , people are talking at me Whaaa , they are holding me to account whaaaa whaaa , ,I am being persecuted I need to go to my mates for help in the MSM whaaa,

Creasy et al wouldn’t it be better just to answer the polite questions SB has asked you and thus prove your sincerity on the issue of discrimination of all types , even super thug Austin managed to do it so why not you idiots , or is the truth of the matter that it is all concocted to smear JC and you lot don’t have an once of integrity on your body.

    2. F complete and total FS…

Streeting, woodcock and austin were CHALLENGED “to prove they opposed all racism in a way that implied their opposition to antisemitism was only a way of attacking the party leadership.”

Whereas greasy was ‘ATTACKED’/ in an email and evidence was ‘DEMANDED’

Jesus H Corbett – it just HAS to be about greasy being ‘THE victim’ doesn’t it?

Deserves every shred of abuse it receives.

  21. Further on from within that ‘article’…

‘Creasy says she is now having to deal with “organised abuse” at a local level.’

‘Organised abuse’ eh? Hope you and your entire family are punted from the party, you slimy get.

There’s some more ‘abuse’ for ya. Suck it up…

    1. @Toffee Creasy says she is now having to deal with “organised abuse” at a local level.’

      That is indeed great news.
It looks like the membership of her CLP are at last waking up to the fact that she and her “mates” are nothing but destructive self centred Red Tories and need to be got shot of ASAP.
Why is she not shouting to her mates in the MSM about the huge numbers of avoidable deaths in our NHS and society caused by Tory cuts,,,,,, the silence is DEAFENING , nope still can’t hear anything from her ,,, only constant whining and whinging about being “attacked ” . Well madam Creasy this is what happens when you go all out attacking the leader and the membership of the Labour Party , you are an enemy of Labour and the working class people it represents , they will defend themselves .
Seeing she and her compatriots relish attacking JC and the membership of our party perhaps the simple answer would be for them to go and join the Tory party , at least that would be honest and they can then enjoy the accolades from their true friends the Tory MPs.

  22. Oh I forgot…

    Greasy’s hashtag is (or was) #noshittakingmp , weren’t it?

So if that’s right and it’s not taking any sh*t…Then WT absolute F is it bleating about?

    The complete quilt.

  23. Here y’are greasy….here’s an example from as recently as last December of you showing disgust with ‘casual racism’

    https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/fury-as-bookmakers-praise-darts-fan-who-blackedup-as-diane-abbott-as-impressive-fancy-dress-a3721401.html

But wait for it, because it was only 6 to 8 weeks later you were tweeting casually racist images yerself?

(Can’t post link or post will go into moderation but see above)

……And you tried claiming you didn’t realise it was racist?

Hmmm….Outright LIES, disingenuous selectiveness – or just plain thick??

OH! That reminds me – Talking of ‘thick’…

Your ‘boyfriend’ once described a momentum activist as: ‘so thick , if you tried to drink her through a straw she would make your ears bleed’ in an abusive and racist tweet.

Hmmm….If I was you, I’d ask him what he thinks would happen if he tried to drink YOU through a straw, after the evidence of your imbecility has been undisputedly proven, just now…

…I predict it won’t end well

    #noshittakingmp 😉

  26. I’m not on twitter, but I’d be really grateful if someone could RT greasy’s tweet (above) and add the mirror link along with this short message

If the labour (co-op) party don’t get why you’re out of order, I hope @WalthamstowCLP do 🙂

  27. Well done Skwawkbox and keep going . I have just donated because of your report. This has been a particularly bad run of manipulated smearing for right-wing political ends. Maximum resolve required and focus on Corbyn’s great policies. Who else is defending the poor, the sick and the economically oppressed in the UK? Sad but Corbyn has been weakened over the past month and we need to give him strength. Support Skwarkbox, because apart from Chris Mullin’s tweet, and Mehdi Hassan’s comment, a few letters in the truly pathetic Grauniad , it is the only communication’s tool in the UK to get it right. Hindsight is easy, and Jeremy’s advisors try their best under huge pressure. I do not know how much Jeremy listens, but – You can apologise only so much for things you have not done. Fight back. Grab the snake by the head for once. 1. Russia – Jeremy should have stood up and simply said to Theresa May, “Labour Supports you. I have some questions. but now is not the time. I hope I can bring them to the House soon ” and sat down again. On the mural – his staff should have trawled his tweets and Facebook themselves and dealt with anything that could be weaponised. Finally, the Labour Party could do badly at the local elections, on May 3rd, and this will be used against Corbyn. Be prepared.

  28. Congratulation Skwawkbox! You seem to have a forte for showing peoples true facades by simply asking pertainant questions.

Now the Tony Blairite Fanzine aka The Guardian as written an equally unprofessional diatribe into the above. An “article” that could only be described as a Hit Piece, which has now been removed and fundamentally modified to hide the obvious vitriol that Anne Perkins has for free media.

This is the massively modifived version https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/mar/28/labour-mps-attending-antisemitism-protest-targeted-for-deselection-corbyn-lammy

Thanks again Skwawkbox, for what? Actually holding power to account as a media service.

    1. What has been modified, j? The part smearing the Skwawkbox appears unchanged as far as I can see

      1. Sadly, I was too naive to do a screen grab so I no longer have the original. I will learn though.

The orignal article was IMO very condescending in introducing Skwawkbox,. Something along the lines of…….the blog, Skwwakbox who consider themsleves to be the most influential of the NLM……

When I read it. It made me smile as it seemed you had really got to Ms Perkins personally.

Maybe the Guardian will provide you with an unedited (including headline) version?

Thanks again for your deeply informative News.

  29. Creasy’s cartoon was disgusting and it does seem to be one rule for one?
But comrades take care with your language; I share people’s frustrations with the constant internal undermining of JC but be calm, rational and POLITICAL and disciplined – our opponents are looking for the tiniest thing and members are being held to rigorous academic standards!
Perhaps we are up against uncritical thinkers who are happy with “crumbs for working people” and interesting and rewarding careers for themselves when many of us (with our international brothers and sisters) REALLY want to transform the UK and the World! Solidarity!

  30. I donated £20 to Skwarkbox yesterday and signed up. I see that neither of my posts have been moderated yet, -the main one was posted yesterday evening. Yet Bazza’s post is up and moderated and Bazza only posed at 8.56am this morning it seems. Why? I used no bad language.

    1. Hi, if you post for the first time or include links, WordPress may put your comment into moderation. We keep up with moderation as well as time allows but unfortunately can’t guarantee a period – however, now this post has been approved your others will auto-approve, at least as long as they don’t include links. Thanks for your support!

      1. Thanks. My comment on the thread is still in moderation a day later. I must have done something wrong when signing up and registering.

  31. Balls to greasy – Hypocrite, liar AND snowflake (Oh, and nepotist). I won’t forgive or forget nor let it rest, and I sincerely hope Walthamstow CLP don’t, neither. Alright at dishin’ it out. But when push comes to shove.

The reasons that considers itself a ‘victim’ is because of it’s own gob & attitude. All ‘abuse’ entirely brought upon itself. It’ll never change it’s ways if – it at the age it is now – still does it’s damnedest to get a rise out of decent people and then cry foul when it’s thrown back to it .

And, yes – I’ll refer to ‘it’ as ‘it’ because it’s no lady. And if I referred to it as ‘she’ it’d probly ask: ‘Who’s ‘SHE? The cat’s mother?’

    Godawful creature.

    1. Toffee I understand your frustration I really do , and I have let rip myself but have to agree with Bazza re the language and tone. Don’t give those Blairite MPs the opportunity to further point the finger of false accusation and use it to undermine further JC and the Labour party.
We now have to box clever and better then those Blairites , I have no doubt that eventually justice and fairness will catch up with them , we have had 20 odd yrs of Blairite entrenchment and it will take time to overcome them but I feel we will win and so will the socialist Labour Party .
Calm measured but relentless solidarity will win .

      1. Agree. Calm and discipline are needed. Don’t give ammunition to the neo-libs and their fellow-travellers.

      2. Seems to me to be a classic case of ‘feed the baby that screams loudest’ with rats like greasy screaming ‘abuse’ to anyone who’ll listen; but at the very same time doing their best to annoy& being deliberately provocative to people.

They deliberately confound getting ‘called out’ for ‘abuse’. If anyone thinks what I’ve said constitutes ‘abuse’ well let me tell you it’s f-all to what I think constitutes abuse. I haven’t even scratched the surface of ‘abuse’.

I take her words and actions personally as an affront to my (far superior) intelligence and integrity.

Let me tell you all, I’m f’king zen – compared to what I could be, and more to the point, what rats like greasy deservedly bring on themselves.

If I see it, I’m gonna call it. If greasy objects then let the court decide if it’s abuse or not. Not some poxy shithouse of a so-called politician be their own judge their mates in the mainstream media being the jury.

      3. I’ll leave this here and then have done with this thread…

        ———————————

        https://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/profiles/stella-creasy-the-labour-mp-who-has-taken-on-the-internet-trolls-and-payday-lenders-8754945.html

She says: “To challenge, call out, parody or criticise someone is to practise freedom of speech. To threaten them with rape is not.”

        —————————-

So, unless she wants to accuse me of the latter…

  32. Oh Dear and now we have the Sajid Javid Tories disgraceful attack on Momentum!
Firstly see David Rosenberg’s brilliant piece on the Jewish Voice for Labour website; David shines a light on the pretty disturbing TBG – Tradional Britain Group which some suggest has Tory Party links.
Secondly I felt the need for my pen:
    SILLY SAJID JAVID.
WHEN TINY NAZIS WOULD DO THEIR WORST.
ATTACKS THOSE WHO FIGHT AGANST THEM.
AND LIKE TRUMP – SENDS IN HIS GOB IN FIRST!

    Solidarity!

  33. Well done for a measured and accurate approach to the issues, and for giving credit where its due. There should be more of this.

This morning’s “Five-Minutes of Why Corbyn is Horrible” on the Today programme mentioned his interview condemning anti-semitism and noted that he is now being accused of anti-semitism for “failing to condemn” as antisemitic the counter protest on Monday to the Enough Is Enough protest, which was attended by such well-known anti-racists as Norman Tebbit, Iain Paisley Junior, and the DUP’s Sammy Wilson, who spoke approvingly and publicly of an actual terrorist organisation’s proposal to “cleanse” Northern Ireland of Roman Catholics.

The smears seem to be imploding under their internal contradictions.

Anti-semitism is real and is disgusting, and there certainly are instances of it on the left-ish (though I have had far more experience of it from the right), but when Jewish people disagreeing with other Jewish people get branded as anti-semites we’re into a very bizarre landscape indeed.
