First Secretary of State Damian Green last week made an unprincipled attack on the ‘new left media’ (NLM), in which he sank to new depths in his smears against the SKWAWKBOX and other well-known NLM publications – even stooping low enough to exploit the memory of the murdered Labour MP, Jo Cox.
Green – speaking to a gathering of ‘Westminster lobby journalists’ – ignored the behaviour of mainstream press and broadcasters to throw blanket accusations at this blog and others which cannot bear any reasoned scrutiny, especially in the light of the mainstream media’s (MSM) frequent use of material uncovered by the SKWAWKBOX, Canary and others as the basis for their own articles.
So the SKWAWKBOX decided to approach Mr Green directly, to challenge him to provide evidence to back up his smears. This is what we sent him, with a generous deadline for a response:
The questions are clear enough. Mr Green clearly felt sure enough of his ground – or in a presumption of a lack of challenge – to make his sweeping and smearing statements to an audience of mainstream journalists who, no doubt, ate up his words eagerly.
Yet we received no response, even 6 hours after the 4pm deadline.
Mr Green appears not to have felt on firm enough ground to answer a simple set of questions based entirely on his own words.

No doubt he is Samuel……..but none of the Tory rags that covered it had any examples of these hate-filled articles etc that Green was accusing Sqwawkbox and The Canary (and Briebart) of publishing, and the reason for THAT of course is that there aren’t any. And that is why Green didn’t respond to the above email that Sqwawkbox sent him.
It was ALL one gargantuan Big Lie that he and his black propaganda chums sat around concocting and devising, knowing of course that THEIR propaganda machine – ie the Mail and the Sun and Express etc – would faithfully deliver it to their millions of readers. And sad to say, but even the Daily Mirror covered it, although the comments posted afterwards are excellent.
Anyway, the key thing is: Where next? I can only hope that the fact that Sqwawkbox gave Green such a specific deadline to respond by – and a relatively short time in which to do so – is an indication that they are seriously considering taking legal action. I certainly hope so, and I would be more than happy to donate £100 to help fund such an action should they decide to proceed. And I would be more than happy to help in any other way that I can, like gathering evidence of all the hate and bile and lies and fabrications and distortion and vitriol etc, etc pumped out by the right-wing press over the years and decades.
17,840 people in Damien Green’s constituency of Ashford voted for Labour candidate Sally Gathern in the 2017 election. Perhaps a few hundred of them would like to write to Mr Green or go to Mr Green’s next MP’s surgery and ask him about this disgraceful slur. This incident is a sad indictment of the state of ‘democracy’ in the UK today.
I’m quite sure the likes of green were already detested before the advent of independent media…know I did – And STILL do. I can see for meself what they’ve been doing, just like people up & down the land can.
Independent media just gives us the in-depth views that the MSM are too lazy or disinterested to touch – and without the overt bias that so-called ‘impartial’ (Publically funded) ‘journalists’ show regularly and without redress .
Not all of it I agree with, but at least Indy media reports on the social aspects of their destructive policies.
So much for being some sort of ‘champion of the masses’ when he’s too much of a coward to elaborate on his specious claims; but what else would you expect?
I’ll happily say right now that I hate him and his policies…Perhaps he’d like to use my last sentence in his next milquetoast bleat – he’s welcome to, as long as I’m given the same MSM platform to respond.

bbbarabas: I love you heart-felt and passionate posts, but I have to disagree with you on one point. Hitler – as with Green and May and Co and their propaganda machine the right-wing press – rule and control with lies and deception and, as such, manipulation of the masses. They demonise and vilify their political opponents, unions, or any group of people that stand up to them.
Propaganda was what created Nazi Germany and held it together, and propaganda and deceit keep the majority of people today thinking and feeling what they – the Establishment – want them to feel and think about any particular issue or politician etc.
I picked up a copy of the Daily Mail that someone had left on the bus a few years ago, and had a quick browse through, and on about page 5 I think it was, there was an article with a headline that referred to ‘Dave’, and a couple of pages later an article with a headline that referred to ‘Red Ed’, just like it always used to be ‘Maggie’ on the one hand, and ‘The welsh Windbag’ on the other in all of these vile, nasty little right-wing rags. And THAT was just the least of it of course.
