Achieved #NHS targets fall from 86% to ZERO% in #4ToryYears

The Tories like to claim that they’re protecting the NHS and increasing its funding. They lie – in spite of being regularly rebuked by the UKSA (UK Statistics Authority) for doing so. The lie has been definitively exposed today by a revelation about the English NHS’ performance against ‘key targets’.

‘Shocking’ doesn’t even come close.

The latest data portray the near-collapse of the NHS – especially in England – under the weight of underfunding and unremedied staff shortages combined with completely-predictable demand.

Performance against key targets, in cancer care, Accident and Emergency and planned operations, in 2012/13 was eighty-six percent – which was already seriously short of the 95% target. Four years later in 2016/17, the most recent complete performance year – it had fallen to zero percent:

Performance in Scotland – where the devolved administration has to live with the Tories’ overall funding cuts but makes its own decisions about how to apply them – was slightly better, but still massively down:

You can only scrape thin butter over so much bread, clearly – and the fact we have approaching six million fewer NHS bed-spaces now than we did under the last Labour government is just one way in which it’s clear that the current situation is planned by a party that hates the NHS and can barely maintain its charade.

If the above figures look bad enough, things are about to get much worse. As a Kings Fund representative told BBC News today, we are not yet in winter – and this should be a period in which the NHS builds resources in readiness for the massive winter increase in demand that we see every year.

There is evidently no ‘building of resources’ going on in our cash- and resource-starved NHS that is attempting to cope with the collapse of social care and GP services, which are piling even more people into hospitals.

The Tories are killing the NHS while claiming to protect it.

  1. Well done for finding and publishing this information thank you.

The Health and Social Care Act 2012 was passed to sell off the most lucrative parts of the NHS to mainly US venture capital backed globerlisers like UHS and Acadia.

Starting with Mental Health services, as this is the most lucrative part of NHS, eating now over a fifth of the total NHS budget.

The less lucrative A and E have been starved.

Foundation Trusts like Sheffield Health and Social Care, who provide mental services are now private companies providing all services with little, or no tendering, as the only ‘qualified providers’ under HSCA.

The Clinical Commissioning Groups are being subsumed by purchase of GPs and special measures into these Foundation Trusts and herded as associates into ever larger Practices..

And, unlike the insurance Medicare system in the USA, we have no contractual rights against the service providers who are mainly self regulating.

Google my blog finola moss and read all about what is happening and it started with Blair.

  2. Great work. How revealing and how depressing. Figures to show the NHS is dying.

If the Tories are setting out to kill the NHS, then vulnerable people will die / have died as a consequence, unless they can fund themselves privately – which if it were feasible, would then coincide with the Tories’ twisted, ideological desires. But this Tory pipedream can’t happen for struggling people in a failed economy heading for Brexit.

If it’s all about choice, it’s a stark one…. vote Labour or watch the NHS die.

  3. THE NHS IS NOT A BUSINESS, IT BELONGS TO THIS COUNTRIES PEOPLE, IT IS NOT, THE TORIES PLAYTHING!
IF A BUSINESS WAS DOING BADLY, LOSING MONEY, WOULD ANY BUYER IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR, BE FALLING OVER THEMSELVES TO PURCHASE THAT BUSINESS?
    OF COURSE, THEY WOULD!
THEY’RE WAITING, WITH BAITED BREATH, FOR THEIR TORY FREINDS TO RUN IT DOWN, EVEN LOWER THAN IT IS NOW!
THE TORIES WILL QUIETLY DO A BACKROOM DEAL, WITH THEIR CORPORATE BUDDIES, AT A ROCK BOTTOM PRICE!
ALL FOR THE RICH TO BE RICHER!
    SAFE IN THEIR HANDS?
    “GOD HELP US”!

  4. Reblogged this on The Night Owl and commented:
We all know that the selling off of the NHS has been happening, and has been, really since Blaire’s regime – but seems to have been really speeded up this last few years or so, by the Tory Government – so why is nothing being done about it?
The NHS is a Nation-funded Health and Social Care system, so why haven’t we the right to put a stop to the Tory selling-off of all it’s component parts?
Why aren’t the Labour Party screaming and shouting out to the world about all the real figures, instead of keeping quiet every time a Tory lies about the real figures – or at least start doing something to put a stop to it all?
Is our government so far above the Law that absolutely nothing can be done to call a halt to it all?

    1. I think the allowing of a largely incomprehensible to most Bill, the Health and Social Care Act through Parliament shows that a cabal is at work.

Similar happened with the Mental Capacity Act, which allows enforcement of all services including medical, on anyone deemed ‘incapable’ by an inquisitorial secret court the Court of Protection, with no representation except an on message Official Solicitor.

It would appear, we have a small number of very powerful people of both Labour and Tory, who rule the roost. and have done now for twenty years.

They have been allowed to pass vague legislation on health and welfare, in breach of the Rule of Law as it allows the executive too much power, and this ‘law’ is then enforced by an establishment third way politics executive.

Thus, the law itself, and indeed Parliament, are effectively gerrymandered for this strong controlling Parliamentary force, whose main purpose appears to be to use the population as commodities for private profit, which is eventually bought off by venture capital and played a game of monopoly with.

I can only surmise, that as the media, Labour Party, in fact no one is revealing all this, let alone shouting about it, illustrates the interparty power of these people.
