Breaking: Unite to affiliate to JVL

Jewish Voice for Labour (JVL) is a new Jewish socialist organisation that aims to give a voice to Jewish people on the left of the Labour Party. Its official launch event is taking place now.

Unite union General Secretary Len McCluskey has just announced at the event that Unite will formally affiliate to JVL.

  3. It heartening to see there’s a Jewish organisation whose Jewish members have the courage and conviction to stand up to such a powerful and influential, yet demonstrably devious body as the Jewish Labour Movement (JLM).

    Jewish Voice for Labour’s chair Jenny Manson says: JVL will work for those “unhappy with JLM’s claim, inherent in its name, to be the Jewish Labour Movement speaking for us all, when it does not reflect the diversity of Jewish views on the left and does not require its members to be Jewish or in the Labour Party”.
