Over 300,000 people used #NUT #schoolcuts app just yesterday #GE17

As the SKWAWKBOX covered at the end of April, in a single weekend half a million people used the NUT’s school-cuts app in a single weekend to find out the impact of Tory education cuts on their children’s schooling and life chances. The trigger for that surge in use of an already-popular resource was Labour’s announcement of its plans not only to protect education spending but to boost it and to create an ‘NHS of Education’ – a National Education Service to ensure no child misses out.

That demand has not lessened as the General Election campaign has progressed. In fact, it appears to be increasing.

As the NUT’s Kevin Courtney announced yesterday evening, an astonishing 300 thousand people used the site just on Saturday – and he made his announcement at 9.27pm, so there was time for a substantial increase before the end of the day.

That demand is with very good reason. Almost 18,500 schools face further cuts in cash terms and every non-private school in the country will lose either in real terms or in cash terms – with more than 100 schools losing more than a million pounds each.

If you’re a parent, grandparent, uncle, aunt or just care about children, you need to visit the NUT’s school-cuts page – and to tell everyone you know about it and what you find out.

Anyone who uses the app will see that there’s only one way to protect our children and their education – and that’s to kick out the Tories on the 8th of June. If enough people use the site and see the truth, we can do exactly that.

  1. Education is the foundation of a civilised society.

By decreasing education funding in order to increase profits for their corporate donors, the Conservatives destabilise our society.

  2. Thanks for the link to her Facebook Page. It is illuminating. I had to look really hard to find any positive responses for her or her manifesto but many apposite comments by Labour supporters.
