Labour NW: we did not block pro-RMT/rail safety motion

Last week the SKWAWKBOX featured an incident in a Merseyside CLP in which the Chair advised that a motion – in favour of guards on rail services locally and nationally for safety reasons – could not be discussed because Labour’s NW regional HQ had advised that it was against Labour policy.

Labour’s regional director has sent the following email in response to a query about the issue:

Hi all

It’s absolutely not the case that CLPs are being prevented from discussing this motion. As I understand it, a motion was passed by Liverpool, Walton [Metro Mayor candidate Steve Rotheram’s constituency].

There is one CLP where there was a discussion with the Regional Office about the handling of a motion due to us being in the midst of an election campaign. I understand that the CLP decided to hold a debate on the issue.

Both I, and Steve’s campaign team are aware of this issue and that it could be damaging and so I’m grateful for the heads up.

Anna

The SKWAWKBOX is delighted to correct this misapprehension, as the facts reported were correct but it did not ‘feel’ right that Labour would issue such an instruction.

However, it seems likely there will be some intense discussions at the CLP in question as a result of the apparent misinformation communicated to it.

The SKWAWKBOX encourages everyone on Merseyside to vote for Steve Rotheram as Metro Mayor and to support his campaign 100%.

  1. OLYMPIC STADIUM AUDIT- £550 PLUS BLACK HOLE.????

So the current London Mayor is going to spend another £140,000 of Taxpayers money on a Fiscal Audit of the Stadium spending (see following URL link for details.)
Don’t expect too many revelations because you won’t get much for £140K.
There are reports in the press the stadium costs will be nearer £750 million which is TAD higher than the original costs for the REFURBISHMENT of £115 million.
Questions need to be asked are, where, how, why, when, whatfore ,howmuch, WHO SAID . For example the very first Design Change Order (DCO) on the Stadium was £140K Goal Line Technology(GLT). Why should taxpayers pay for this and why did it cost £145K when FA standard equipment can be purchased at £15k.
The second DCO is for £1860million for Outside Bradcasting Facilities. Why wasn’t this agreed under the original design package.

According to the Design Change Order (DCO) there are only 19 DCO’s Items to the value of £7million which is BS.. There lies the First MAJOR COCK UP because there should be a paper trail including DCO worth £550+million.

In essence there is a £550+ million BLACK HOLE in the Olympic Stadium Budget.
OMG , Boris the Buffooon screws up once again.
No doubt the inquiry is more politically motivated than Value for Money.
Project Management is not rocket science but any Balfour Beatty Project is designed to cheat and defraud the client and this particular Olympic Stadium is no different to most other BB Projects. This particular project has been an Open Chequebook for them to steal Public Funds made easy by Boris the Buffon ODA and LLC and the Current Mayor.
We have a Major Stadium paid for by the Taxpayer which has a £500million BLACK HOLE which is unsafe and unfit for Purpose and the Tory’s and Shadow Government blaming each other for the schoolboy errors in Project Management.

Lets see what the Auditors say.

  2. Misinformation indeed.

Feeling we may soon move to a vote of no confidence in the chair.

Looking forward to the minutes of the meeting

  3. Well, well. Just had an email from said CLP. Not an answer to my questions but a general letter about the tone of the meetings. I doubt I will see anything. Hope others have better luck.
