Ex-Israeli Shin Bet head ‘involved in kidnapping of German heiress’s children’

Yaakov Peri allegedly assembled team of Israelis to abduct two Block children

The former head of the Israeli Shin Bet security service has been accused in German and Israeli media of involvement in the late 2023 kidnapping of the two children of German heiress Christina Block.

Block, the heiress to the German ‘Block House’ steakhouse empire, is accused by German prosecutors of orchestrating the kidnapping of her two children, 13yo Clara and 10yo Theodor, from their father Stephan Hensel. 81yo former Shin Bet head Yaakov Peri allegedly assembled a team of eight Israeli operatives to carry out the kidnapping, including ‘Tal S’, who was arrested in Cyprus a year ago and put into pre-trial detention in Germany and testified last week to the court in Hamburg that he took part to do a ‘favour’ for the children.

Block’s partner Gerhard Delling, a sports journalist, is also accused of participating in the plot, which began in 2021 and led to the kidnapping plan after attempts to smear Hensel and his lawyer as paedophiles failed. The smears were ironic, when Israeli ministers have been accused of raping their children, the government is ignoring well over two thousand extradition requests for accused or convicted paedophiles who fled there for refuge and it recently assisted in the escape of cyberspy Tom Alexandrovich after he was caught in a child predator sting.

Peri, a former Knesset member and government minister as well as Shin Bet head, reportedly has form for running intelligence operations in Germany.

Block’s kidnap plot initially succeeded, but she was forced by a Hamburg court to return them to Hensel in January last year.
