Gaza life expectancy falls by 35 years – almost half – amid Israeli genocide, more than in any recent war

UN human rights expert slams genocide apologists trying to cover horrors of occupation’s crimes and barbarism

A mass grave uncovered in Gaza after Israel occupied the area.

The life expectancy of Palestinians living in Gaza has dropped by almost half – thirty-five years – amid Israel’s genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. This measured fall was inflicted in just the first year of a genocide that has lasted almost two years, so the current impact in the middle of Israel’s starvation blockade is almost certainly much worse – but even after the first year, the impact on lives in Gaza was far worse than in any other population facing war in recent decades:

The data were published in response to an appalling New York Times column claiming that Israel is not committing genocide because not enough people have died – and ignoring that more than 430,000 have been killed according to calculations from the occupation military’s own data.

The estimates for Gaza were calculated by a team led by Michel Guillot, an expert on demographic analysis, from publicly available, peer-reviewed data widely accepted as accurate. UN Special Rapporteur for human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese was clear that this information shames those who try to dismiss or minimise campaign to exterminate the Palestinian people of Gaza:

And as consultant doctor Niz Mhani pointed out, the slaughter and starvation do not exist in a vacuum but are surrounded by expressions of genocidal intent by senior Israeli figures from Netanyahu down:

And even Israeli human rights groups, if belatedly, are calling it what it is:

The UK regime of Keir Starmer continues to assist Israel in its crimes, while now trying to mask its involvement by outsourcing its collaboration to US firms – and refusing to disclose how much public money it is spending to do so.

  1. Must be a life expectancy lower than early victorian Britain.

…Something that likely gets the establishment sexually aroused.
