Draconian bail conditions imposed on 74yo Liverpool anti-genocide activist Audrey White are a scandal

Mersey Pensioners legend under house arrest

A prisoner in her own ‘jigger’ (alleyway): Audrey White.

Legendary Liverpool left-winger Audrey White was one of four people arrested two weeks ago at an anti-genocide march in the city, under the Terrorism Act for carrying signs supporting Palestine Action (PA) against the direct action group’s ‘proscription’ designation as ISIS-like terrorists. The proscription has been condemned by legal experts and United Nations human rights specialists.

White was violently arrested and carried off in handcuffs by police, then released on bail after hours in police detention – but the bail conditions imposed on her are a scandal, even more so when it is clear that neither she nor any of the arrestees pose any danger to anyone.

White, who lives in Liverpool city centre, has been banned from entering it for three months and from leaving a tiny area around her home for any reason at all except medical appointments – not even to walk to the corner shop for a pint of milk.

A placard attached to a street pole near Parliament satirises the Starmer regime’s war on those with a conscience, even if they are pensioners.

White has committed no violence and poses no threat to anyone – except perhaps to Keir Starmer’s appetite, after she gave him a piece of her mind in a Liverpool restaurant a few years ago; she has described her situation as “house arrest” and a form of attempted psychological punishment designed to tell those whose conscience drives them to resist the Starmer regime’s collaboration in genocide to stay silent or suffer the consequences.

The regime’s ‘lawfare’ war on anti-genocide speech and protest knows no depths it is not prepared to plumb, whether its victims are children or pensioners – while those who support genocidal Israel are given a free pass even for acts of violence.

Now, you’re forever coming across as nothing ever gets past you, but not a peep outta you on that thread.

There was a time – not that long ago, in fact – that you’d have had dozens of comments more than anyone else on a thread like that. All of them spouting your tedious shite about how keef was supposedly more popular than corbyn.

And you’d be getting your arse handed to you left, right and centrist.

So ICY >i>really did MI (abd we know you didnt) i thought Id offer you another opportunity.

        Happy to help. 👍😉

      1. If they do, then @patrob428 best be very careful.

Cos if benny finds out he’s got competition…

  1. I just thought I’d check out some of the UK right-wing tabloids to see if any – or all – of them are dissembling the atrocious B/S lie about kids dying NOT because they starved to death but because they had some pre-condition, and went on the Daily Express website first of all and, as such, came across an article from April 4th in which it says the following:

Overnight strikes by Israel also killed at least 55 people in the Gaza Strip, hospital officials said.
The Israeli military said it struck a “Hamas command and control center” in the Gaza City area for attacking a United Nations building used as a shelter a day earlier, killing at least 17 people. Adding it took steps to lessen harm to civilians and that the stepped-up offensive is intended to pressure Hamas and eventually expel the militant group.

I’ve not come across THAT one before by the IOF as their reason for bombing somewhere-or-other (a school, most likely?) where Hamas allegedly not only had a command and control center, but had attacked a UN building used as a shelter, killing at least seventeen people.

Oh it’s so good to hear how the IOF is doing all it can to protect civilians in Gaza. But I can’t help wondering why they waited until the next day though?

    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/2036926/Horror-gaza-heinous-massacre-kills-children

I bet they couldn’t stop laughing for hours when they came up with that one! Oh, right, and the Express reports it as if they really believe it. As if!

NB The Express has a circulation of just under 114,000 as of June, and is probably read by around double that number. And their website gets 27 million visits a month currently.

PS And I don’t suppose the Express was the only paper to report such total garbage!

  2. So I just checked out the Sun, and there was nothing. I then checked out the Daily Mail, and came across the following article from April 2nd – ie from two days before the Express article:

Gaza rescuers say nine children among dead in Israel strike on UN building

The Israeli army said it targeted Hamas militants in a strike on a UN building in Jabalia refugee camp Wednesday that Gaza’s civil defence agency said killed 19 people, nine of them children.

The army said in a statement that it struck the militants “inside a command and control centre that was being used for coordinating terrorist activity”. It separately confirmed to AFP the building housed a UN clinic.

Civil defence spokesman Mahmud Bassal said there were also dozens of people wounded in the strike which “targeted an UNRWA building housing a medical clinic”.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/afp/article-14563139/Gaza-rescuers-say-nine-children-dead-Israel-strike-UN-building.html

So it appears that the Express wasn’t in fact reporting what the IDF said (as I obviously thought was the case), but altered the story themselves so as to have their readers believe it was Hamas who attacked the UN building sheltering civilians and killed 17 of them, and the IDF then killed THEM for doing so, albeit not until the next day. So there’s potentially several hundred thousand people out there now that believe that Hamas did such a thing, and does such things!

    1. And needless to say, the IDF is lying through their mass-murdering genocidal teeth about Hamas having a command and control center inside the UN building. I mean if the IDF is to be believed, then Hamas have set up command and control centres in literally hundreds of locations during the past twenty months or more where civilians are sheltering – ie schools and hospitals and mosques etc, etc – so as to use the civilians as a human shield, and yet it has NEVER deterred the IDF from bombing the location… but we’re supposed to believe that Hamas just goes on using civilians as human shields in such locations when they’re NOT human shields.

    1. Yes, I imagine there was a poster in the Liverpool cop shop (shame on you Liverpool!) with Audrey White’s photograph saying “Arrest on sight”! Just goes to show most forces are now as bad as the Met, obviously with orders from high…

She was magnificent when she tackled Starmer – and all he could do was refuse to look her in the eye or speak to her and she was shuffled away by an ‘aide’. She should wear that and her ‘arrest’ as a badge of honour, Starmer isn’t fit to lick her boots.

A little off topic, but I saw a video the other day showing one of those big brave Met coppers wade in to a crowd of people banging pots and pans, single out a quite fragile looking young woman in the middle of the crowd, manhandled her out of the crowd, handcuff her and surrounded by other coppers put her in a bus whose door was then shut. Thank goodness someone had the foresight to video it, but I shudder to think what she went through. I wonder if anyone here saw the same and knows what happened to her?

      1. Yes, she’s obviously a dangerous woman, because she’s a trueper and has nothing but contempt for the mass-murdering genocide-supporting hate-mongering fear-mongering lying fascist scum who run the show, and their billionaire-owned propaganda machine, along with the semi-corporate zionist/tory run and controlled BBC, and specifically the BBC news output..

    1. Thanks winteringham, exceptionally moving.

FWIW, when pro-Trump conservative commentators like Tucker Carlson broadcast clips like the above, we know that the con-trick called zionism is sussed. Well and truly!

    2. As a Palestinian who was there said:
      “It’s Death Aid!”
A powerful testament here from a non Palestinian on the ground and how the IDF are dehumanised; and words fail how low they are prepared to go as the West still turns a blind eye or er talks of shock and horror but in reality does bugger all!
And this employee witness confirms this private US/Israeli company won’t provide water as it cuts into profits as Neo-Liberalism is in the gutter, profiting from starving, emaciated & desperate human beings.
      “I see the poison.
From the vain and spiteful Right.”
You could weep but we need to keep strong and keep fighting for a Free Independent Multi-Ethnic Democratic State of Palestine from the rivers to the sea.
Oh & the Israeli Illegal Occupation Force’s economy has now probably been hit by £440b in the last 22 months.

  3. Compare and contrast…. Last night I was driving a long way home, so listened to R4 which I only do on such journeys. 9pm. Orchestral music in memory of the orchestras formed in Auschwitz. Can you ever envisage the Israelis ALLOWING Palestinians to form orchestras?

    Make your own comparisons.

  4. Afterthought: Re the fraudulent article the Daily Express posted, it just occured to me that it’s highly unlikely they published it in the actual newspaper, and only posted it on their website, as such. As for the 27m visits a month, I don’t know if these things can potentially be verified by an independent body, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all that the figure is grossly inflated for the purpose of attracting advertising – ie advertising revenue. But if it IS authentic, then potentially a million or so people could have read the article and, as such, carry yet another massive great big lie in their memory banks, as with the 40 beheaded babies, etc, etc, etc.

  5. Isn’t there a crowdfunding campaign for Audrey et al to appeal this?
Liked the idea of posters around the city.
