Australian embassy tries to tell Flotilla crew member to abandon Gaza humanitarian voyage

“Imagine telling someone not to feed a starving child? I’m not a professional box ticking boot licker”

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition vessel Handala, which set sail from Sicily on Sunday in another attempt to break Israel’s criminal siege of Gaza, is crewed by a team of volunteers from around the world – and is currently in Gallipoli, Apulia, Italy until 18 July on its last stop before completing its journey to try to bring baby food, medicines and other supplies to the besieged Palestinian people facing starvation and daily bombing and shooting under the colonial occupation’s starvation blockade and help end its genocide, which has murdered around 400,000 civilians so far.

One of the crew, Australian Tani Safi, has published a video mocking an attempt by the Australian government, via its embassy in Israeli capital Tel Aviv, to persuade her to abandon the voyage and the ship in Gallipoli:

And she added, in a social media statement:

Imagine telling someone not to feed a starving child? I know I’m not a professional box ticking boot licker, but I thought I’d help the Australian Embassy out. We can actually fix this so that everyone is alive and well.

Our countries, active participants and profiteers of Israel’s war crimes, are more concerned about our lives than the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza who have been murdered, or those starving right this second.

If Israel stopped acting above the law, and if our governments prioritised their basic sense of humanity over their wallets, there would be no need for a flotilla.

The Gaza Freedom Flotilla has never actually been about delivering humanitarian aid – it’s about breaking Israel’s illegal siege of Gaza, which created the need for aid wayyy before the genocide, which in turn paved the way for Israel’s (and their friends) escalating war crimes.

The previous two Flotilla vessels were attacked by Israel in international waters, in blatant contravention of international and maritime law – the Conscience bombed off the coast of Malta with the collusion of the Maltese government and the Madleen pirated and seized, along with its crew, off the coast of Egypt.

Mass international awareness and attention is the best chance of safety and success for the crew of the Handala from the rogue state’s attacks. Spread the word and follow their journey here.

    1. The pay-off line at 10:10 is a doozy and I hope and pray it’ll happen, but it looks like wishful thinking right now. A lot of people are going to have to get very tough and very handy at citizen’s arrests, abductions at gunpoint and other dark arts to deliver the sort of justice Owen describes. They’ll be taking on the world champions of perfidious deceit and unrestrained violence – Satan himself, you could say…

      1. What goes around, tends to come around…….

The observation in this piece which notes the quote of Georgia [USA] publisher Tom Watson a century or more ago……

““It is a bad state of affairs when the idea gets abroad that the law is too weak to punish a man who has plenty of money.”

….is just as relevant for those aiding and abetting this Genocide as it is those at the tip of the spear. Whether they be Western politicians and their corporate paymasters providing the means and the policies driving it; the Western corporate media CEO’s and executives providing cover for it; the elected representatives and media hacks at all levels defending it and vilifying any opposition to it; and the individual members of the security services and police actively obeying illegal orders under International Law by going after anyone who strays from The Official Narrative (TON).

There are certainly some lucrative opportunities for the alternative T-shirt industryto exploit:

  1. 2 things:

1 – I’m ordering a Palestine flag to hang from my balcony (I live in a flat). Surely, that can’t be acted against by the police, can it? It silently states my disapproval of Israel’s genocide as wel as support for its victims.

2 – I was just about to order a high-end, Australian H2 (hydrogen gas generating) ‘hydrogen water bottle’ that is designed, manufactured and sold by an (impressive) Australian company. Not now. I’m going to email them to explain that their government’s action vis Tani Safi has dissuaded me. It might not matter to them but it’ll draw their attention to their government’s prejudice against fighting oppression.

    🙂
