Gaza doctor: “Today’s shift, it felt like someone said ‘Make sure those missiles hit children'”

“Every child who reached us had a swollen abdomen, swollen with blood. Their bodies were torn apart by shrapnel, most of them were severely, even fatally, wounded.”

Gaza doctor Ali Tahrawi has described another hideous day of Israeli child-killing, saying that the number of maimed and wounded children arriving at his hospital made it seem like every missile was targeted specifically at kids. He writes harrowingly of his experience and of the stories of some of the children he saw and treated:

Today’s shift, it felt like someone sat down, designed those missiles, and said, “Make sure they hit the children.” The missiles may as well have had children’s names written on them!

There was only one pediatric surgeon available, facing a large number of critical cases that needed immediate surgical intervention to save lives. Every child who reached us had a swollen abdomen, swollen with blood. Their bodies were torn apart by shrapnels, most of them were severely, even fatally, wounded.

One little girl, Fatema, is just nine years old, suffering from massive bleeding in her brain, abdomen, and lungs. She is now breathing her last breaths, while her family stood helpless beside her, watching the monitor as her vital signs steadily declined.

Another girl, the same age, had a piece of shrapnel pierced through her back, damaging her spinal cord and causing complete paralysis in the lower half of her body, along with internal bleeding in her abdomen. She screamed from the pain in her stomach, but could no longer feel her legs.

Tahrawi went on:

Among the wounded was also a mother. She suffered the same injury: internal bleeding in the abdomen and lungs, and paralysis in her lower limbs. She wept for her three children, who were all killed. When I tried to reassure her that she was in a stable condition, she whispered through her tears, “I wish I had died with them.” Then she started screaming!

Another child had severe internal bleeding in his abdomen. Even the slightest touch caused him unbearable pain. His parents sat beside him all night. I believe it was the hardest night of their lives since the genocide began.

Dozens of children were killed or wounded today. Thousands more yesterday. And for the ones who survived; what does tomorrow hold? Nothing but more pain, I fear..

By the way, your governments may have the audacity, and the shame، to justify these crimes and the killing of children. But how do they explain blocking baby formula and starving infants? Does the milk go to Hamas too?!

Israel is a terror state and the Starmer regime is enabling its terrorism and genocide. The UK government belongs in the dock, on trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Hague.
