The Washington Post has published translated audio of a call – one of twenty such calls made to senior Iranian army officers – giving them twelve hours to betray their country, flee and produce a video denouncing their government, or they and their families would be murdered:

I can advise you now, you have 12 hours to escape with your wife and child. Otherwise, you’re on our list right now. We’re closer to you than your own neck vein. Put this in your head. May God protect you.

The Post published the recording, apparently without condemnation, and it was shared by a senior analyst with the pro-Israel, neocon so-called ‘Foundation for the Defence of Democracies’ who, judging by the rest of their very pro-Israel, anti-Iranian social media feed, considered it rather a fine achievement.

It appears that the generals were not cowed by the threats, as they apparently all remain in Iran and no denouncement videos have surfaced.

The calls were reportedly made just after Israel launched its unprovoked bombings of Iran earlier this month and assassinated senior military figures and civilian scientists – and before the Israeli regime got a massive shock when it found that Iran has large stocks of missiles capable of bypassing Israel’s air defences, devastating a third or more of Israeli capital Tel Aviv and hitting key military and intelligence sites, including Mossad, and Israel’s ports.

Israel has slaughtered around 400,000 Palestinians during its genocide in Gaza so far, around half of them children, and has often murdered the families of the journalists and doctors it has targeted for death. It is blockading Gaza to starve around 1.8 million survivors. Many children have already starved to death.
