Short-lived truce after Yemenis forced US Navy out of region is over – and Iran seeks Russian support
Yemen’s Ansar Allah (sometimes called Houthis) has announced the end of its temporary truce with the US over Trump’s apparently failed overnight attack on Iran.
The group, which is Yemen’s de facto government, had agreed not to attack US shipping following Donald Trump pulled US naval vessels out of the region and asked it to stop its raids on US convoys. The blockade of Israeli and Israel-linked shipping continued. But now, after Trump broke US law to order the military to bomb Iranian nuclear processing sites overnight – an attack that seems to have failed after Iran said it had already emptied them in anticipation of a US attack – Mohammed al-Bukhaiti of Ansar Allah’s Political Bureau has said that Yemen has ended its truce and warned of a military response:
Our agreement with America was before this state’s aggression against Iran. Today we stand with our brothers in Iran against America and the Zionist entity.
Our military response is coming, and in the first phase we will target American forces in the Red Sea.
We have a firm position to support resistance forces against aggression by Israel and the US. An attack on Iran is equivalent to aggression against Gaza and the entire Islamic nation.
Al-Bukhaiti’s comments come a day after Ansar Allah’s spokesman warned that Yemen would view any attack on Iran as war on Yemen and all Muslims and would respond accordingly:
As stated in previous statements, reaffirming Yemen’s principled and firm position in rejecting the Zionist aggression against our brothers in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and any Arab or Islamic country subjected to Zionist aggression.
The battle with the Israeli enemy, the aggressor against Iran, with what it has committed before that of crimes against the Palestinian people and genocide, and the ongoing attacks on the Lebanese and Syrian peoples, and the aggression against Yemen, then it turned to a comprehensive aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, under the title of changing the face of the Middle East, that the Israeli enemy seeks complete control over the region, and implement the Zionist plan with open American support and American partnership, and is trying to remove the Islamic Republic of Iran, because it considers it the greatest obstacle to achieving its plan.
Therefore, any American attack and aggression that supports the Israeli enemy against Iran within the framework of the same objective, aiming to enable the Israeli enemy to control the entire region, this is something that cannot be ignored, Because it means confiscating the freedom, independence, and dignity of our nation, enslaving it, humiliating it, distorting its identity, occupying its homelands, plundering its wealth, and establishing a system of permissible shedding of blood, honour, land, and holy sites.
Therefore, the battle is the battle of the entire nation, and salvation, glory, and victory for the nation lie in mobilization, in jihad for the sake of Allah Almighty…Accordingly, if the US involves in an attack and aggression against Iran with the Israeli enemy, the armed forces will target its ships and warships in the Red Sea. The armed forces are monitoring and observing all movements in the region, including hostile movements against our country, and they will take the necessary legitimate procedures to defend our beloved country and its proud people.
Dear Yemen, with its beloved people, faithful leadership, and mujahid army, will stand by any Arab or Islamic country subjected to Zionist aggression or that decides to confront this aggression in self-defense or in support of the mujahideen in the Palestinian resistance. We will not abandon our brothers in the Gaza Strip, and we will not allow this American-backed criminal entity to implement its plans in the region.
Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said this morning that his country condemns the ‘warmongering and lawless’ US’s ‘brutal military aggression’ on Iran’s civil nuclear facilities, an ‘outrageous, grave and unprecedented’ violation of international law and the United Nations charter, warning that the Trump administration is ‘solely and fully responsible for dangerous consequences and far-reaching implications of its act of aggression’:
Araghchi also said he would be flying to Russia for a meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin, who last week warned Trump against attacking Iran.
In its earlier attacks on US naval vessels that were attacking Yemen because of its blockade on Israel-bound shipping in support of the people of Gaza against Israel’s starvation siege and genocide, Ansar Allah reportedly caused the destruction of several US warplanes and serious damage to at least one warship before Trump ordered the naval withdrawal.
Iran’s retaliation this morning has already levelled targets in Tel Aviv and Haifa, according to footage that has leaked despite Israel’s ban on filming of struck sites.

The Houthi Ansar Allah political group is simply asserting that the ir previous truce/ceasefire with the U.S. is suspended in the light of America’s hostile aggression against Iran. I see their logic and motive. They’ve stated that the action could escalate until Trump’s belligerence and aggression against Iran ends. Under any other American president I would think they’re over-reacting, but against Gaza-Riviera Trump I say “good on ’em”.

After overnight strikes on Iran, President Trump on Sunday declared the operation a “success,” and said that Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities were “completely and totally obliterated.” But his early public pronouncements contrast with more cautious assessments by the U.S. and Israeli militaries.
The Israeli military, in an initial analysis, believes the heavily fortified nuclear site at Fordo has sustained serious damage from the American strike on Sunday, but has not been completely destroyed, according to two Israeli officials with knowledge of the matter. The officials also said it appeared Iran had moved equipment, including uranium, from the site.
A senior U.S. official similarly acknowledged that the American strike on the Fordo site did not destroy the heavily fortified facility but said the strike had severely damaged it, taking it “off the table.” The person noted that even 12 bunker-busting bombs could not destroy the site

The last time Israel attacked Iran, in self defence and as a retaliation + also demonstrating the power of its missiles Iran took out a US base in the region but pre warned the US so there were no US casualties.
With this attack some argue the US returned the favour & Iran had time to clear the site.
Lumpen Netanyana has just said they know where 60% of Iran’s uranium is so perhaps unintentionally confirms this?
These are the games the bourgeois politicians play as perhaps Trump aims to please his base.
But this is all bluster; the political reality is the US & most of the capitalist West want a share of the profits from Israel’s theft of Gaza’s land & other Arab land (A Greater Israel) + from stealing Gaza’s gas & oil resources & of course its dollars in the bank via profits also from Western arms sales.
