Corbyn’s favourite poem becomes name of new party after promise at weekend

After former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn indicated during a speech to independents gathered in Liverpool that a new party was imminent, Pamela Fitzpatrick – a director of Corbyn’s Peace and Justice Project (PJP) – has registered a new political party with the Electoral Commission. Arise is named after Corbyn’s favourite poem, Shelley’s ‘Rise like lions’:

The long and impatient wait of Corbyn’s hundreds of thousands of supporters for a new left party looks to be over.
Update: ‘Arise’ is a local initiative, another false start in the left’s long wait for a new party. More here.

What was wrong with The Peace and Justice Party?
That was a campaigning project, Arise is a political party you will be able to join, make policy with & vote for in local & general elections .ickhead!
Your Fox is shot lumpen as you desperately try to pour cold water on a brilliant potential historical new beginning.
Time for hundreds of thousands to join as soon as & to get millions in the bank to campaign with.
There WILL be a genuine REAL alternate to the Right (including Labour) & hope for diverse working class people & the progressive m class + all.
And many of us are very experienced campaigners amongst our class.
Time for ARISE!
“Here we go, here we go, here we go!
Here we go, here we go, here we go!”
Bazza – On the contrary I just think that the Peace and Justice Party would have been a far better option than Arise.
Given that ‘the left’ have already wasted 4+ years the question now seems to be, what will the state of play be in 4 years time? Will we find that instead of getting on with it ‘the left’ has just wasted yet another 8+ years?

We await the party’s bank account for membership and donations
“Rise like lions after slumber” is from Percy Bysshe Shelley’s “The Masque of Anarchy” written in 1819 in response to the Peterloo Massacre.
“Arise” registered with the Electoral Commission just now by Pamela Fitzpatrick a director of Corbyn’s Peace and Justice Project is in response the the vile Sit Keir Starmer and the horrendous LINO catastrophe he fronts (rather than ‘leads’).
Looking Good!! Is the party expected to field candidates in the 2026 local elections to develop a presence?
Arise … ye starvelings from your slumber …
Arise must launch with a campaign for PR. Our undemocratic FPTP electoral system preserves the duopoly in Parliament which progressives must break.
Simultaneously Arise must bring plans to head off the climate catastrophe to the British people, to keep within 1.5°C by 2050 by achieving net zero CO² by same cut-off.
And declare we will save our NHS, education, the welfare state,…
Just shed a little tear; a transformation could be back on + can I join as soon as please!
By chance went to a great Left event in my city on Sunday ‘We Demand Change’ and a new Left Party was discussed in a workshop.
And once a tiny number of top down vanguardists had got their lifelong line off their chests & some of a few Greens stopped promoting themselves, people actually started thinking critically & shared their honest feelings & many were for a new Left Wing Democractic Socialist Party.
In my view the few ‘Revolutionary Socialists’ present, the top down vanguardists, believe In the banking concept of political education, they feel all they need to do is deposit their top down, ready made programme, into the heads of the diverse working class then they will lead us to socialism – A SOCIALISM FOR the diverse working class.
But I argued for a new Left Wing Democratic Socialist Party led by JC (public recognition) & as us many very experienced campaigners will knock on diverse working class peoples doors, JC’s name gives us a ‘facer inner’ to engage in political discussions with our class on our socialists IDEAS.
As the 1st person in my w class family to go to Uni & ended up working in a Uni I learnt to use Stimulous-Response documents to encourage discussion.
So such a party as Step 1 could use JC’s 2017 manifesto as such for its members to discuss, amend & add to.
Then Step 2 this is put to the public on diverse council estates etc with the public which again can be discussed, amended & added to, then once we feel it’s ready we Step 3 put it to the masses & sell it to the masses on the doorstep in a new manifesto in the GE campaign to transform society for the benefit of the diverse working class peoples lives & all.
A grassroots Left Wing Democratic Socialism WITH THE DIVERSE WORKING CLASS!
Let’s join in our hundreds of thousands & get millions in the bank to campaign with.
Will sleep well tonight with a sense of hope.
“Arise Ye Starvlings from your slumbers.”
x
To be clear Step 2 is public meetings with diverse w class people on council estates etc & in unions to discuss our draft manifesto & to put forward changes etc
Then we come up with the finished version to offer in a general election..
Please let me know when & how to join, I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.
I’m sure none of us are under any illusions that it is going to be an easy task getting ‘Arise’ off the ground (forgive the pun) with no doubt all the force of the Establishment and the MSM against it, but having been politically homeless since 2020 it is just great news. Indeed the best I have heard for a long time, we desperately need some hope at the moment.
