Flotilla reminds supporters of plight of Madleen crew still held hostage in Israel – and of over 10,000 Palestinians held in Israeli dungeons

The UK ‘mainstream’ media continue – of course – to run cover for Israel’s criminality even as they interviewed one of Israel’s victims, Greta Thunberg, as she arrived back in Europe after being abducted by Israel in international waters. The headline used by Sky News, for example, said she ‘accuses Israel of kidnapping’ when under international law there is no disputing that Israel did kidnap her and her fellow crew members, eight of whom are still being illegally held hostage in an Israeli prison:

Thunberg expertly handled the feeble, ‘both-sidesing’ questions of Sky News and other presenters as she was interviewed in the arrivals area of Paris CGD airport – but the interviewers, from other broadcasters as well as Sky, tried hard to obscure the fact that Israel acted as the rogue state that it did and unequivocally broke international law (yet again), and to keep pushing Israeli talking points about the sandwiches the crew were offered (‘I’m sure they took a lot of PR photos’), the supposed ‘illegal’ entry into Israel (‘We were kidnapped in international waters and brought there against our will’) and the small capacity of the Madleen vessel for carrying aid (‘We didn’t have a choice, they bombed our bigger boat’), why governments are ignoring what’s happening ‘Because of racism’.
Thunberg had to deal with media regurgitations of Israel’s dismissal of the Madleen’s voyage as “moral grandstanding” and even of the oafish and immature US president Donald Trump’s claim that she needs “anger management classes”.
I think the world needs a lot more young angry women… especially with everything going on right now.
Greta Thunberg, today.
And she made very sure to make clear the collusion of western governments in Israel’s genocide in Gaza and their refusal to fulfil their obligations under international law to stop that genocide:
Her contempt for the media’s tactics was clear enough, as is the rightness of the cause of the Palestinian people and those trying to help them against Israel’s “systematic starvation of over two million people and the full-blown live-streamed genocide”.
A statement this afternoon from the Freedom Flotilla Coalition confirmed the plight of the crew still held hostage and of the Palestinian people, particularly of the more than ten thousand Palestinian civilians still held hostage under brutality and torture in Israel – who are ignored by western governments all too happy to talk about the handful of Israelis still held captive in Gaza:
The FFC confirms that 4 of the 12 abducted from international waters have been deported, while 8 remain unjustly detained. Israel is handling the custody of all 12 as though they had entered illegally—even though they were forcibly abducted from international waters and brought into Israel against their will.
Those who did not consent to leave remain in detention and will appear before a tribunal. But we know Israel’s so-called “justice system” exists to uphold apartheid, occupation and colonization—not deliver justice, and that they will ultimately order a forced expulsion.
While the world stands by ‘Madleen’, we must also stand by and fight for Palestinians unlawfully imprisoned. According to Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, as of June 4, 2025, there are over 10,400 Palestinians held captive in Israeli dungeons. Of those, more than 400 are children and more than 3,500 are held without trial, charge, or minimal due process.
The world is watching.
The UK media, like its government, are collaborators and colluders in genocide and in the terrorism of the terror state.

What a woman! Stands by all her clearly spoken principles (not even in her own language). She makes Starmer. Lammy and Trump look like silly brainless dwarfs.
Why does the commentator at the end say: “She says…” What she said was clear legal opinion. What the hell do you mean “She says?”
What a lightweight! Took the easy option of running off home rather than toughing it out like Rima Hassan & Thiago Avila. Respect to them, not to Saint Greta.
The same time the Main Stream Mob were mocking this young, neurodivergent lady, a young, bullied man killed ten people before committing suicide…
She is on the right side of history and I have nothing but contempt for those attacking her and all of the other campaigners.
The Mass media stupidly finalising their reporting by stating Israel denies their claims. A pathological lying regime is being defended at every turn, when we know from their actions where guilt lies. Our corrupt mass media pretending they don’t know.
Gotta say I’m with @timfrom on this.
Thunberg would’ve made FAR more headlines and furthered the cause had she refused to sign the papers.
Reminds me of john Wayne….No, not the shite, ham acting.
It’s the swagger and bravado. The air of being THE authority on protest, like Wayne was on being ‘murrican.
Because when push came to shove and WWII broke out for the US, did Wayne go out and fight like his acting colleagues?
Nope. Thought it better that he stayed at home to ‘raise morale ‘entertain the moms & pops, and raise funds through war bonds advertisements.
And then, years later, took part in the mccarthyist witchhunt of his fellow acting guild, writers and the likes…Those who actually actively served.
Now, I’m not for a second suggesting she’s gonna rat out and turn gangsta on her friends and causes
Thunberg’s done a far greater amount for causes than I ever could.
But with her status she could’ve made it an awful lot more for Gaza and showed a bit more in the way of solidarity with her fellow shipmates.
