Met police to use Israeli armoured vehicles ‘battle-tested in Gaza’

UK buying weapons from Israel as it’s taken to court to stop them selling to Israel

The Metropolitan Police is trialling new ‘Sandcat’ armoured vehicles across London – which are manufactured by Israeli armoured vehicle company Plasan. For more than thirty years, Plasan has supplied these systems to the Israeli military, including around seven hundred ‘Sandcats’ since the beginning of Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

A Met spokesperson said the eighteen vehicles it has bought from Plasan will be used to suppress ‘serious public disorder’ and will replace its fleet of ‘Jankel’ armoured cars, according to reports in The New Arab.

Israeli arms companies frequently use the deployment of their weapons in Gaza as a sales tool, boasting that they are ‘battle tested’ after being used against Palestinians.

The UK has just finished the hearing phase of a court case brought against it by advocates for Palestinian human rights to prevent it selling components for the F-35 strike aircraft that are slaughtering huge numbers of Palestinian civilians. While the UK government continues to enable Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people, the Home Office is buying arms systems tested on them.

  1. What are the MET police going to use Israeli war machines for in London? Surely the UK is not going to be turned into a warzone?

    1. Nowt to worry about, folks.

See when your mobile phone’s snatched from you, when the smackrats across the road/landing are stealing yours and your neighbours’ parcels; when the local rat kids are tearing up and down the street on their e-bikes with no regard for anyone’s safety and generally terrorising the public…

Don’t expect the plod to do anything about it. They’ll be sat on their fat arses outside the local mcdonalds in their new shiny black motors, stuffing their faces while complaining they don’t have the resources…

      1. EXACTLY right. We haven’t seen a policeman wobble down our street for decades. They just tear up and down the road in their expensive motors using their ANPR looking for untaxed cars – the crime of the century.

  2. The last round of serious public disorder took place everywhere BAR London, didn’t it?

Over the next few weeks in Ulster, we will no doubt witness the serious public disorder that the PSNI are no doubt used to.

They have armoured land rovers (pangolins) that have been ‘battle tested and proven to be up to the job, there. And I’m yet to see the violence on mainland UK get any worse as it does in NI – so what’s wrong with ordering more ‘pangis’ and keeping british workers in employment?

Also, I’d like to know a bit more about the tendering/procurement procedures and processes.

    1. You think this was put out to tender? How sweet of you to have such faith in our politicians and “public servants!”

      1. Well, some might (naively) think the tendering/procurement process is actually a competitive matter.

Plenty of moolah to go on defence contracts in the immediate future. How much will the murderous, death-peddling israelis see of that?

I’d imagine plenty more than they ordinarily would – especially if keef caves to pressure and sanctions (arms) exports to them.

Best get them contracts signed quickly, and make them watertight, O! great legal sages that are smarmer & cor-lammy..
