Half Gaza’s children suicidal, vast numbers starving, healthcare system deliberately destroyed – Israel squirms during Dr Feroze Sidhwa’s harrowing testimony
US volunteer surgeon Dr Feroze Sidhwa – one of a team of US doctors Israel bombed in Gaza after they spoke out about the occupation’s war crimes and crimes against humanity – spoke today to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) about the horrors he witnessed there: young children sniped in the head, others maimed by explosions, expectant mothers ripped apart, operations conducted without sterilisation or anaesthetic, victims dying who might have survived their wounds if antibiotics and aftercare had been available, young survivors driven to feel suicidal by the constant fear, danger and despair – and Israel’s deliberate, targeted murder of medical staff and destruction of hospitals.
All this was delivered almost in monotone. A man, like his colleagues, who have seen and endured too much:
Despite his trauma, Dr Sidhwa was clear on what needs to be done: comprehensive sanctions on Israel, including a ban on all arms sales, immediate and full delivery of food and other humanitarian essentials, the release of the handful of Israeli captives remaining in Gaza and the thousands of Palestinians held hostage by Israel, including doctors like Hussam abu Safiyah of the destroyed Kamal Adwan hospital, complete support for aid agency UNRWA against Israel’s legal and physical assault, immediate intervention by global governments to uphold international law, and more.
Solidarity with Sidhwa and all the doctors risking life, limb and sanity to help Israel’s victims. Shame on the UK government and others who have either done nothing or, like the Starmer regime, have actively assisted in Israel’s racist slaughter of civilians for eighteen months and now think a little hand-wringing and more inaction will now hide their guilt.

Dr Feroze Sidhwa is a giant a true hero. Fantastic doctor. But do you know what -the BBC this afternoon on the News around 4 to 4.45pm could not even bring itself to name him. The presenter referred to him as ‘that doctor’. I have written to the BBC to complain in the following terms:

“I am glad the BBC News today covered the UN coverage of the dire and tragic situation in Gaza but I am afraid the BBC News did a disservice in failing to name the Trauma Doctor who gave his evidence to the UN of his experiences. When I caught up with the story, the female presenter called him ‘that doctor’ when referencing him in the slot that came after 4pm today. This was so dismissive and rude. Dr Feroze Sidhwa has been working in hospital solely on children not combattants, undertaking surgery without anaesthetic and antibiotics in many cases because of blockades on such aid, and children who might have been saved have died when they might have lived because of this, from wounds they had received from being shot by the IDF. These are most definitely war crimes. The doctor’ s name I had to look up myself. Dr Feroze Sidhwa is not Palestinian but American . May I add this – I feel the BBC has failed the British public most terribly in its coverage of the Israeli war on Gaza. May I also ask you to let the BBC Chair Samir Shah know how unhappy I am that while he condemned the failings of the suspended documentary when a child guide was found to be the son of a Hamas member, & in the strongest terms, yet he makes no comment at all about Israeli behaviours in preventing access to the truth, in obfuscating and lying to the rest of the world about what they have done in Gaza. What has been apparent to me for a long time is is that this is a deliberate genocide. The BBC in recent weeks has only tentatively begun to challenge the Israeli narrative and there has not been enough of that . It is akin to complicity.BBC News has disappointed me for many months in the way it has presented news on Gaza and also now it cuts people off when they are saying something important or interrupts people when they are informing us. The BBC DG, the Chair and news chiefs are dissemblers and cowards in my view. “

Dr. Sidhwa, meanwhile, had a closer-than-usual brush with death this week when an Israeli airstrike on the hospital killed his 17-year-old patient, “He would have gone home yesterday, the day after the bombing,” says Dr. Sidhwa, who was contacted by the US embassy after his tweet on the attack, pointing out how he was almost killed by the Israeli airstrike, garnered over a million views on Twitter.
“I got a call from the US Embassy after I sent out that tweet, because I think people saw it, and the lady said, ‘Hi, this is the embassy. We just want to make sure you’re okay.’ And I was like, yeah, I’m fine. If you want to be sure I stay okay, maybe you could ask the Israelis not to bomb Nasser Hospital again, and I swear to God, she goes, ‘Actually, that’s not our role, sorry.’”
For both doctors, this is not their first mission to Gaza since the genocide began in 2023, and much of the carnage, death, and destruction they saw the first time persists. “Just like when we were here last year, 40% to 50% of the casualties we’re seeing, and most of the severely injured casualties, are kids,” says Dr. Sidhwa.

And needless to say Trump and Witkoff and his Nazi-saluting buddy et al, and Starmer and David – Hamas raped babies – Lammy and all the other political leaders in the West who have supported Israel’s genocide, knew damn well from the outset that Israel was lying about the forty beheaded babies – as did the whole of the Western MSM – as with the rest of the atrocity stories, just as they know that the IDF ambushed and murdered and executed the 15 paramedics and first responders in March.
