US-Israel Gaza ‘aid’ plan is an ethnic cleansing scam

Israel is trying to have its PR cake while continuing to eat its genocidal Greater Israel expansion ambitions

The US-Israel ‘aid plan’ that its supporters claim will end Israel’s deliberate starvation of Gaza – which has put 300,000 children on the brink of death – is a sick, cynical scam designed to accelerate Israel’s plan for the complete ethnic cleansing and annexation of Gaza, with the Palestinian population either dead or removed.

The plan, which is backed by US president Trump – who makes no secret of his ambition to turn Gaza into a Palestinian-free beach resort – involves letting in just sixty trucks of food a day, less than a tenth of the 750 trucks Gaza needs in ordinary times, let alone to remedy a two-month long imposed famine. It would also situate aid only in Rafah in the south of Gaza, forcing Palestinians to abandon the rest of their territory to have any hope of food – shattered homes that the people of the north only returned to a few months ago during the ‘ceasefire that never was’, in which they were still bombed daily by Israel and never received enough food even then. The plan is ethnic cleansing dressed up as humanitarian aid.

The food distribution would also be controlled by US mercenaries – many of whom have already been committing atrocities in Gaza in Israeli uniforms – in closed compounds that Palestinians could only enter by submitting to biometric tagging and would have no way of leaving. None of this fulfils Israel’s obligation under international law to provide ample aid for all the people living under its criminal and racist occupation.

Far-right US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee sanitises the mercenary plan.

Unicef spokesman James Elder correctly condemned the plan, pointing out that it would worsen the suffering of Gaza’s children, families, sick and elderly people – most of the population – and adding that asking civilians to enter militarised zones under biometric controls to receive aid “further entrenches forced displacement for political and military purposes”:

Israel’s slaughter of more than 200,000 innocents in Gaza and its starvation blockade on almost two million still clinging to life has destroyed its international façade as anything but a racist and genocidal occupation. It is now trying to claw back some shreds of respectability and push blame onto innocent Palestinians for ‘failing’ to cooperate in their forced removal.

In short, Israel – which for more than two months has blocked enough food aid at the Gaza border to feed the Palestinians for four months – is trying to have its PR cake while continuing to eat its genocidal Greater Israel expansion ambitions. No one should fall for the scam.
