Video: award-winning trauma doc says Israel’s Gaza crimes make ‘Dante’s inferno look like tea party’

Dr Mads Gilbert, who has volunteered in Gaza for 3 decades, says Gaza is worse than hell under Israel’s war crimes and slaughter of civilians

Award-winning Norwegian emergency surgeon Dr Mads Gilbert, who has three decades of experience volunteering in Gaza, has said during an interview with Al Jazeera that hell is better than what Israel’s ‘cowardly’ and ‘sadistic’ crimes are doing to the people of Gaza – so much so that it ‘is making Dante’s inferno look like a tea-party’, a reference to Dante’s terrifying vision of hell and damnation.

And Gilbert mocked Israel’s claim that its military is the ‘most moral’ in the world, pointing to the deliberate targeting not only innocent women, children and men but also systematically destroying the healthcare system that might allow some of Israel’s maimed and traumatised victims to survive, including this week northern Gaza’s only (and partially) functioning trauma centre:

Gilbert, who has been banned by Israel from entering Gaza for his outspoken condemnation of its crimes long before the current genocide began, has won a string of medical and humanitarian awards for his work. Because of his criticism of Israel’s occupation, apartheid and murders, he has frequently been the target of smear campaigns by the Israel lobby in Norway and internationally.

Despite his expertise on Gaza and Israel’s ongoing genocide there of over 200,000 civilians, he has not featured on the BBC for more than ten years – and only then to showcase Israel’s entry ban:

  1. I am in frequent “discussions” with supporters of Israel’s atrocities, on Youtube. The numbers believing they have the right to murder any and all Palestinians is both horrific and frightening!
