Israeli supreme court rules that starving Gaza is not starving Gaza

Occupation’s deranged system says ‘no evidence’ that starvation blockade breaks law against starving people in war

The Israeli Supreme Court voted unanimously last week to dismiss a case brought by several human rights organisations demanding that the occupying power resume deliveries of food and other essentials for life to Gaza. Court president Yitzhak Amit said that the groups had presented no evidence that Israel’s complete blockade of food and other humanitarian aid, as well as all electrical power, into Gaza since 2 March broke international law against the weaponisation of starvation:

I do not believe the petitioners have been able to show, even approximately, a violation of the prohibitions on starvation of the population as a method of warfare and as collective punishment.

Yitzhak Amit.

Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich said on Monday that Israel will not allow “not even a grain of wheat” to enter Gaza – part of Israel’s blatantly genocidal strategy of extermination. With his habitual collusion in genocide, UK PM Keir Starmer has refused to say that Israel’s blockade is a breach of international law, insisting that Israel is only ‘at risk’ of such a breach.

The petitioners called the ruling:

a song of praise for the State of Israel and its army during the darkest period in their history.

The Supreme Court refrained from conducting judicial review and fully adopted the state’s position, while ignoring the situation and the consequences of the state’s actions in the Gaza Strip.

When is murder by starvation not murder by starvation? When it’s up to the Israeli Supreme Court.

  1. I’m sure there must be SOME decent Israelis …. Hello! …. Hello! … Hello?????????????

  2. Yitzhak Amit’s name will live in – shameful – infamy, alongside that of Josef Rudolf Mengele, and Otto Adolf Eichmann.

Three war criminals who deserve each other.

  3. Yitzak Amit is full of BS (and he knows it). He is also a most disgusting parody of a human being. This characteristic is shared only by other members of the Israhelli government.

  4. The international community, this includes Muslim nations, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, The UAE, Indonesia, Morocco ect, have let the people of Gaza down badly. It should come as no surprise that quizzing like Stammer have no decency, no excuse. The leaders of Islamic nations have no backbone, they have made some noises, a bit of saber rattling, nothing else.

  5. Israel is providing the next generation of Nazis.

So many individuals will have to live with this- their part, their words, their individual culpability- Israelis, US citizens, UK citizens, other Europeans! The deeds of genocide must be kept in the public consciousness. There can be no moving on from this!
