Genocide is a laughing matter for many MEPs, apparently.

MEP Marc Botenga slammed Poland’s EU Minister Adam Szlapka and others who were laughing and joking during a special session of the parliament to discuss the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Palestine’s Gaza, which has been caused by Israel’s genocide, bombing and total blockade of the tiny Palestinian enclave.

Botenga spotted Szlapks laughing as he apparently shared a joke with someone behind him – and let fly, accusing the EU of complicity in Israel’s crimes and abhorring the organisation’s refusal even to say why there is a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza:

Szlapka’s contempt for Palestinian life is perhaps unsurprising when his Polish government colleague Władysław Bartoszewski believes there is no such place as Palestine and that it would be ‘obscene’ to arrest wanted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu under arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court.

Botenga also condemned the EU’s ‘shameful’ hypocrisy on human rights when it is prepared to stand by – and even support Israel – during the blatant genocide and other crimes Israel is committing, and shows ‘contempt for the lives of Palestinians’. At least 200,000 Palestinian civilians – and potentially as many as half a million – have been murdered so far.

He is not wrong – and the same condemnation applies to the criminal Starmer government in the UK.

On further reflection in regard to the trusted source status of the ECHR, Billy, the thought occurs that a reasonable argument can be made that any source that takes almost eleven years to reach this stage in regard to those events – when the same body considers two years to be a reasonable time frame……

        If these events had been the other way around, the ECHR would have concluded an investigation and passed judgement within weeks. And with no bullshit caveats trying to shift the onus of blame and responsibility.

        We have seen too many examples of Western Oligarch owned and controlled organisations and institutions at every level bending over backwards to please their sponsors by arriving at conclusions as close to The Official Narrative as possible.

        Those charged with running those organisations and institutions know – as you would if you had an iota of intellectual and moral honesty rather than being an unthinking drone parroting the official bullshit — that personal and financial sanctions as well as threats to their families , along with similar institutional sanctions, would fall on them like a ton of bricks from a great height if they stray too far from what is not permitted.
