Israeli energy minister announces complete cut-off of Gaza’s electricity

More open declarations of war crimes and genocidal intent by occupation regime

War criminal: Israel’s energy minister Eli Cohen.

Israeli energy minister Eli Cohen has confirmed in a social media post that he has signed an order cutting off electricity in Gaza with immediate effect:

“I have now signed an order to cut off electricity to the Gaza Strip immediately. Enough with the talk, it’s time for action!”

Cohen’s Orwellian statement that Israel has talked too much and acted too little ignores its sixteen-month long – and now resumed – genocide. Cutting off electricity – no doubt Cohen and his fellow fascists hope this will silence the flow of news out of Gaza about Israel’s crimes – will put babies, the sick and the wounded in immediate danger and put hundreds of thousands at risk of imminent death, especially as Israel has long targeted hospital generators and water purification and desalination plants.

Like Israel’s move last week to cut off all supplies of goods and humanitarian aid to around 1.8 million surviving Palestinians in Gaza, the decision to cut electricity is a blatant war crime and a clear announcement of genocidal intent, as UN Special Rapporteur and international law expert Francesca Albanese quickly pointed out:

Cohen, like his boss Netanyahu and their enablers in Washington DC and Westminster, belong in the dock facing whole-of-life sentences for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has found time to post inanities on X about football, but neither he nor his boss have mentioned this latest shameless war crime, let alone condemned it.
