Houthis threaten Israel with renewed shipping blockade if aid not allowed into Gaza within 4 days

Yemeni commander issues ultimatum to Israel, which is blocking food, water, electricity and other essentials required by international law

Houthi Commander Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi has issued an ultimatum to Israel, threatening it with a resumption of Yemen’s blockade of Israel-bound and Israel-linked shipping, if Israel does not end its blockade of food, water, fuel, shelters, electricity and other essentials for life – an unequivocal breach of international law and a statement of genocidal intent – within four days, with two days remaining.

Al-Houthi issued a statement, warning that his forces will not stand by and watch as Israel starves the Palestinians of Gaza:

During this blessed month [of Ramadan], and as part of our religious and faith-based responsibility and coming from how we feel towards our religious duties which embody fear of Allah the Almighty, and we are in the month of fasting.

We declare to the whole world:

We will give a four days period. This period is for the efforts of the mediators.

If the “israeli” enemy continues, after the four-day period, to prevent the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and maintains the complete closure of the crossings, we will resume our naval operations against the “israeli” enemy. Our message is absolutely clear: we respond to the blockade with [a] blockade.

We cannot keep watching the aggression aimed at starving the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Last year, Yemen’s shipping blockade of the area forced the Israeli port of Eilat to declare bankruptcy – and saw Israel’s biggest coal supplier announce an end to its shipments.
