Taqwa Ghazawi’s detention extended by military court
An Israeli military court has extended the detention of 12yo Palestinian girl Taqwa Ghazawi, after she was abducted in Jerusalem as she left school on Thursday. She has been charged with drawing the Palestinian flag and will be detained until at least Monday.
The flag is not the only expression of Palestinian identity and culture on which the occupation is waging war. Israeli authorities have clamped down on festivals, performances and artistic gatherings. cultural institutions in East Jerusalem have are frequently raided or shut down – and last month, even bookshops were shut down for daring to sell books that even mention the word ‘Palestine’.
Israel’s hatred for the Palestinian people is even deeper for Palestinian children. More than 100,000 children are believed to have been killed among the 200,000+ victims of the genocide in Gaza so far, Israel has specifically targeted oxygen supplies, generators and medicines needed by hospitalised Palestinian babies and children, and children along with adult civilians have been dehumanised and treated as collectively worthy of death.
