Logan’s run meets Soylent Green’ – Labour plans to give free rein to private companies acting as death ‘assisters’

After a series of decisions obliterating scrutiny and demolishing safeguards against coercion and abuse, Keir Starmer’s Labour yesterday confirmed that it plans to farm out its ‘assisted dying’ programme to private companies who will operate them for profit. The news caused horror among those who read it and among not a few MPs previously conned into backing it.
But further details of Labour’s plan have emerged, exposing even more how much Labour’s killing of the frail, elderly and sick will be geared to allow the new death centres to act as cash cows for private capital – and ultimately to eliminate those that the government considers unproductive.
Labour’s language toward the elderly, disabled and others unable to work has, as former independent MP Claudia Webbe observed last week in her Morning Star column, has continually hardened into a narrative of supposed ‘unsustainability’, to the point that it resembles nazi language of ‘useless eaters’.

And the latest information to emerge about Labour’s death-factory plan is frankly terrifying. Labour had already made clear that it was happy to waive the requirement for a High Court judge to approve applications for assisted death – promised as a safeguard and now abandoned – but it is going much, much further.
In the latest version of the plan, any corporate killings would be:
- exempt from investigation by a coroner
- exempt from licensing requirements, opening the door to a ‘corporate cottage’ death industry with no mandatory qualifications
- exempt from regulation and any statutory duties
- exempt from scrutiny by the UK’s Chief Medical Officer
- only required to ‘have regard to’ – but not even to actually follow – an industry ‘code of practice’
- allowed not to follow the code – ignoring it would be ‘not itself’ a problem
- monitored be by a ‘Commissioner’ with no powers or teeth to force compliance – because there’s nothing such death factories would have to comply with, as long as the management ‘reasonably believes’ it is acting lawfully
- cannot be sued by families of those killed
In addition, if the bill becomes law, the government would have to wait at least five years before reviewing how the legislation is working.
No actionable guilt, no scrutiny, no civil liability, almost no viable checks, balances or enforcement – a licence for corporate killing for profit and the thin end of a wedge toward a situation where those who are too ill or weak to work and contribute are considered not only dispensable but expected to remove themselves to ensure they are not an ‘unsustainable’ ‘burden’ on society.
So terrifying is the wide-open door the bill creates for companies to profit from death that even Tories – whose governments killed hundreds of thousands of us through austerity and covid – are appalled. Nikka da Costa, a Number 10 director under Boris Johnson and Theresa May, described the Labour licence-to-kill as ‘utterly silent on essential issues’. This is no surprise at all from a ‘Labour’ party perfectly happy to starve children and freeze pensioners to death every winter.
Logan’s Run meets Soylent Green but with even less scrutiny, in other words – at least for the millions of us plebs.

This has to be a deliberate wrecking action, designed to make it impossible to pass through the House of Commons.
The real problem for today’s feeble politicians is that they are so divided amongst themselves, and possibly covertly averse religiously, that the only way out is to go extreme.
They can then bury it (sorry) and trot out “we had a vote and it failed” for about twenty years.
Really old fashioned.
In other words, no proper due process principles and standards; no checks and balances. Just like in the Labour Party, where an allegation is treated as an automatic guilty verdict.
What next? Cash rewards for dobbin in your neighbours for not pulling their weight? Who gets to decide that? Is it those with the most twitter/X followers? Those with the best lawyers? Those who shout the loudest?
“Into the incinerator you go” as Jonathon Pie once observed in one of his sketches.
Hardly surprising for a political class obsessed with supporting and hugging neo-Nazis and shovelling every penny we have not got in their rabid two century fixation with going to war with Russia to plunder its resources because we’ve already plundered everyone else’s.
This is going to come down to us or them. Just like in eighteenth century France.
Mr.H, you’re very accurate.
Germany has just started a program where you can snitch friends family etc for wrong think.
And Professor Betz is predicting civil war within 5 years. For the record, the Prof describes himself as an “establishment man”
The key question here is the assumption of guilt on the basis of an allegation which – as history has demonstrated – is often absent of any substantiating evidence.
And the thing is, this practice of doing for someone by making false allegations is not limited to the individual level. It also operates at the level of, let’s go with, ‘International Relations’.
So, for example, anyone with an ounce of intellectual and moral standards knows full well that the current conflict in Ukraine started well before February 24th 2022 and that The Official Narrative (TON) on the issue is what Churchill once described as a terminological inexactitude.
Similarly, as laid out in the middle of this piece…
https://strategic-culture.su/news/2025/03/04/eating-crow/
…. with appropriate links, similar evidence free allegations – which have wider implications – have recently bitten the dust in a defamation case involving a company called Smart Shirts v the Sheffield Hallam University Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice.
“Frustrated with being subjected to punishing sanctions over alleged forced labour issue in Xinxiang, whence it obtains cotton for the merchandise it produces, Hong Kong shirt manufacturer Smart Shirts Ltd. filed a defamation suit in London High Court against Sheffield Hallam University. The plaintiff alleged that the University’s Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice had caused it economic harm by attributing without evidence complicity in supposed human rights abuses in Xinxiang, focusing on several suppliers, including Smart Shirts……
……the UK court ruled – and this is the key point – that the defendant failed to prove its allegations.”
As with TON on Ukraine – within the contextual background of the 2019 RAND Report seeking to Balkanise the RF to more easily plunder its resources – so it is with the TON in regard to Xinxiang and China. With similar examples of US think tanks piling in to use repeated unsubstantiated allegations of genocide to advance partisan Western Imperialist ambitions.
Allegations where UN Human Rights Rapporteur, Alena Douhan, actually took the trouble to go there and investigate for herself, reporting that no evidence of genocide was detected and asked that sanctions based on the unfounded allegations be removed.
At every level, we are dealing with a group of amoral sociopaths and psychopaths who have proven form in destroying anyone and everyone who have the temerity to be different from themselves and who stand in the way of their insatiable demands for infinite wealth and power.
Whether it is individuals or whole countries. Their position, based on their behaviour and attitudes, is quite clear: There is no room for themselves and the rest of us. The logic of that should be accepted and the appropriate action should be instigated.
Because it really is coming down to us or them.
As laid out here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oeuruxO3vk&ab_channel=Jerry%27sTakeonChina
“It’s not China that is breaking any Human Rights laws, it’s most likely America and any other country that has stolen from Xinxiang the presumption of innocence and due process and have even gone so far as to deny people there the ability to prove their innocence.”
– Dr Alena Douhan, UN Special Rapporteur.
I was looking on youtube for the thanatorium scene from soylent green for the other thread.
Anyway, they’ve made it so Harry Shipman was only guilty of jumping the gun.
Mengele type experiments, next.
The tragedy about this debate is it should have been about the most personal & difficult decision an individual plus loved ones can make.
But the Bill has been top down, rushed and has completely failed to consult those who have legitimate concerns about its potential abuse – Disabled people & Older people.
Some even suggest ambitious mediocre political lightweight Ms L was keen to get this passed as Starmer had made a promise to a famous celebrity?
Some of us care about both the first and second groups.
I suggested that doctors should be on the panel democratically chosen by their union & Disabled & Older Peoples reps should be on the panel too & again chosen by Disabled & Older people themselves & they are there to fight against any potential abuse.
Then we address this issue WITH citizens and not top down FOR citizens.
And now from Right Wing Labour Neo-Liberals the final insult for those who are suffering – the profit motive will be introduced.
“Is this what they have done to us?”
Critical thinkers & those with compassion eg socialists & other progressives would have handled this better.
When I was a kid, I was treated a British Army hospital, Hostert, North Rhine-Westphalia. I later went to the same place, after it had become Kent School, a British Forces Education School. I discovered few years ago, that it had actually been one of many Death Hospitals set up by the NAZIs. Where difficult children, the mentally and physically disabled and alcoholics were euthanised. Is this what the Zionist Starmer, is planning for the UK now?
