Video: released captive Argamani exposes Israel’s lie about death of fellow captive

Argamani tells UNSC that Israeli bombs flattened house in which she and Yossi Sharabi were held, almost killing her and killing friend

Noa Argamani testifying to UN Security Council.

Noa Argamani, the former captive released during an Israeli military operation last year that killed almost three hundred Palestinians, has testified to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) about the circumstances of the death of friend and fellow captive Yossi Sharabi during their captivity.

Israeli spokespeople and media had claimed that Argamani, during a video released from captivity, had been coerced into claiming that Sharabi was killed by Israeli bombing – a claim repeated after her release. But Argamani repeated her account to the UNSC on Tuesday, explaining that she was nearly killed by the fallen rubble that also killed Sharabi:

Last August, Argamani was also forced to publicly correct lies by Israel’s government and media – amplified eagerly by western media – that she had been beaten by her captors. Israel’s claims of rape and mutilation by Palestinian fighters on 7 October have also been found to confirmed false or at best entirely unevidenced, in stark contrast to the rape and torture of Palestinian hostages, while Palestinian women and girls have also been raped and executed by Israeli forces in Gaza. Almost no western media have reported the falsity of Israel’s atrocity propaganda, which continues to be repeated by media and politicians.

The exposed lies mirror Israel’s tactics in other instances, such as the deaths of Shiri Bibas and her two sons. Israel claimed last week that they were killed ‘with bare hands’ by their captors, but in fact Bibas’s husband – who was also in captivity – has said that they were killed by Israeli bombs, like many other Israeli captives, and the family refused to allow Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu or his representatives attend the funerals.

Captives who survived have said that the main danger they faced was from Israeli attacks as Israel flattened Gaza and killed at least two hundred thousand civilians and as many as seven hundred thousand in its genocide of Palestinians.

Earlier this month, Israel’s former defence minister Yoav Gallant also confirmed, during a TV interview, that Israel killed hundreds of its own citizens during the 7 October 2023 raid in southern Israel through repeated ‘Hannibal’ orders to kill everyone in a given area, both Israeli and Palestinian. The admission has been ignored by western media and the UK government in the same way as all the earlier reports.
