Sánchez: Spain ‘will not allow’ Trump to expel Palestinians from Gaza

Spanish PM emphatic, though still holding onto wishful two-state solution

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has said that Spain ‘will not allow’ Donald Trump’s plan to expel the Palestinian people from Gaza to become a reality.

Sánchez was speaking to a gathering of the Socialist Workers’ Party in northern Spain’s San Sebastián and called for all nations to obey international law in Gaza insisting that Palestinians must remain in Palestine. However, Sánchez urged the realisation of the so-called ‘two-state solution’ that many pro-Palestinian activists consider impossible now, given Israel’s illegal settlements that have fractured Palestinian territory into tiny shards of what it originally was – and the determination of Israeli politicians to prevent Palestinians ever having a state, even though 146 of the United Nations’ 193 member states already recognise Palestinian statehood.

Sánchez insisted that Trump’s plan is a non-starter in the face of the evils Israel has inflicted on the Palestinian people::

No real estate transaction can conceal the evil, disgrace, and crimes against humanity that Gaza has witnessed in recent years. Spain will not allow this.

  1. Spain 1 cheer out of 2 but two states gives the Palestinians only 20% of their country back and even that would be under the supervision of the Israeli Occupation Force, it is an option put forward by Lightweight & Lazy uncritical thinkers.
I’m with Palestinian intellectuals Olymar & the late Edward Said who called for One Multi-Ethnic Democratic State of Palestine from the rivers to the sea.
Went to a recent talk in my city by two Palestinians and they said the grassroots there want to work together which perhaps offers hope to Olymar’s second call for “A new grassroots Palestinian approach.”
