Video: Honduran President Castro threatens to close US military bases if Trump expels Hondurans

Honduras joins Colombia in standing up to Trump’s bullying and posturing, as Trump tries to bully Denmark into giving up Greenland

Honduran president Xiomara Castro has become the latest national leader from Central and South America to stand up to microwaved US president Donald Trump’s bullying and posturing.

Earlier on Sunday, Colombian premier Gustavo Petro turned away US military flights that Trump had sent, without prior agreement, carrying deported Colombian migrants – Petro said Colombia would accept the victims of Trump’s racist purge when they were sent on civilian flights and treated with proper dignity and respect. Trump responded petulantly, imposing a 25% tariff on imports from Colombia and demanding sanctions against members of Gustavo’s party and ordering punitive security checks on Colombian travellers – so Petro immediately imposed a 25% tariff on US imports into Colombia, warned Trump he would make it 50% if the orange one continued to misbehave and called on other regional leaders to meet him to discuss a unified response across the continent to US bullying.

Now Xiomara Castro has shown similar backbone with a warning to Trump of even more severe repercussions – threatening to close US military bases in Honduras if Trump mistreats Honduran citizens:

The shows of strength came on the same weekend that Danish PM Mette Frederisken gave Trump a flea in his ear after he called her to demand that she ‘hand [Greenland] over right now’ because the US wants it for ‘national security’. She has now reportedly privately talked to EU leaders about European militaries being ready to counter whatever the madman in the White House decides to try in order to ‘heap up pressure on allies [allies!] to give up territory’.

Trump has also spoken of annexing Canada and ‘punishing’ Canada if it refuses to comply. Canadian officials are said to have compared life next to the US under Trump as ‘living above a [highly explosive] meth lab’.
