MAB condemns Met’s ‘dangerous’ assault on freedom to protest

Muslim group highlights Met boss Mark Rowley’s boast to pro-Israel groups about restrictive policing of Gaza protest – and police’s fabricated allegations against marchers

Met Commissioner Mark Rowley boasted to pro-Israel group of repressive policing of Gaza protest

The Muslim Association of Britain (MAB) has published a letter it has written to London mayor Sadiq Khan about the Metropolitan Police’s repression of and smears against anti-genocide protesters.

The MAB letter describes the decision of Met Police Commissioner Mark Rowley to impose restrictions on last Saturday’s pro-Palestine march as a ‘dangerous precedent’ and highlights both Rowley’s refusal to meet Muslim organisations and his meeting with pro-Israel pressure group the ‘Board of Deputies’ (BoD), where he boasted about the unprecedented restrictions he had imposed.

And it condemns the Met’s baseless (and already discredited) claims that marchers on Sunday ‘forced’ their way through police lines when video evidence makes clear that they were invited through to place wreaths in memory of murdered Palestinian children:

  1. So now even the police at the highest levels are bought and paid for and compromised by israel. Im shocked but not surprised.
Would he promise muslims to do this to jews?? Absolutely not. Im disgusted.

  2. And before anyone starts about antisemitism….how many of these ‘deputies’ AREN’T jews?

  3. It’s one thing to be a bunch of lying racists in private; quite another to have it filmed and when caught out double-down.

    1. Dave – I see that Netanyahu is following in the footsteps of his old friend Putin.

      https://www.amnesty.org/en/projects/anti-war-protest-in-russia/
“Russia’s war censorship laws, introduced in March 2022, banned people from criticising Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. They branded calls against war crimes by Russian forces as “fakes” or “discrediations” of the Russian Armed Forces. Under the new censorship laws, these actions can be met with a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
The laws led to an exodus of independent media and activists from Russia and a crackdown on any form of anti-war dissent. Even calling the war “a war” instead of a “special military operation” is considered a crime.
People in Russia continue to protest against the war in Ukraine. However, the Russian authorities are determined to shut them down completely. In 2023 the number and length of prison sentences for anti-war posts on social media increased. In 2024, a new law was introduced to allow confiscation of the property of people who were charged under the war censorship laws.

Hopefully the pair of them will soon get the opportunity to rekindle their friendship in the cells of The Hague

      1. And?

        Quelle suprise! Who would’ve thought?

From not having the time of day for an Amnesty Report (when it did not suit convenience) to making it the gold standard.

Though, the report I’m referring to on 404 would not see the light of day in the present censorship regime across the Collective West. Mainly because it would not even get commissioned.

Like any captured NGO output has much in the way of credibility in the present context. Excuse me while I yawn in the same way I yawned at this example of many similar pieces from this Westerner and independent journalist who is a cynical serial critic of the Russian leadership who has been operating unmolested in and from Moscow since [checks notes] the late 1980’s:

        https://johnhelmer.net/the-oligarchs-picnic-whats-on-the-menu-when-trumps-oligarchs-negotiate-with-putins-oligarchs/

But yes, let’s not look to our own responsibilities where we are by even looking at the level of censorship which needs no laws in the flexible unwritten constitution of the UK (a microcosm of the media self-censorship across the Collective West) of which examples are provided by the bucket full just on this site alone (but let us know how many examples you want, Billy, because right now, resting up and recovering from surgery I’ve got bags of time to give you chapter and verse if you’ve got the bottle).

From lies of omission and commission widely disseminated in lockstep across what passes for a free press (such as the example of almost every national paper in the UK recently parroting the same Official Narrative line that Amazon is to blame for the Southport murders last summer); the use of loaded terms (Prisoners/Terrorists v Hostages) to Officially describe the same thing; the demonisation of Officially designated internal/domestic (protestors, anyone straying from The Official Narrative) and external (any country which fails to ‘cry uncle’) enemies.

A level of censorship which extends across the internet/World Wide Web as detailed in the link in a separate post below (seeing as this site only allows one URL per post).

Not forgetting the far more draconian censorship of the illegal regime in 404.

The only matter on which you are anywhere near approaching convincing anyone of right now is your claim of where you reside. Someone with your level of naivety and so out of touch with reality has to be living alone in a cave in the middle of nowhere.

      2. A typical example of the widespread censorship operating across the Collective West can be found here:

        https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2025/01/rob-urie-on-being-censored-for-the-last-four-years.html

And this is not untypical, with, to cite just one example, prolific writers on Geo-politics such as Patrick Armstrong self-censoring after a visit from your ‘friendly’ neighbourhood three letter agencies.

Not forgetting the education sector where, to mention just two examples, no classical economics or economic history is taught which contradicts neo-liberal dogma; or where, since WW2 , there has been an official legal ban in the US of certain science concepts relating to nuclear physics.

And a big part of the reason why such issues and a myriad of similar ones which would fill volumes are not addressed is that too many of the terminally gullible are easily distracted by Official Narratives directing attention away from our own responsibilities for our own issues.

Preferring to regurgitate official narratives concerning the alleged motes in others eyes whilst extolling everyone to ignore the beams in the eyes of our oligarchs like the good little propagandists they are.

      3. Billy, has it been peer-reviewed and replicated from actual independent sources?

If not, come back to us when it has (if ever)

Also, was there anything untrue in the report a few years back about your Nazi friends in 404 – the findings of which were actually supported by a plethora of other sources from the UN to the Jerusalem Post and Jewish Organisations et al?

All of which you publicly scorned and rejected on this site. As did this group – NGO monitor – which Wikipedia describes thus: “NGO Monitor is a right-wing organization based in Jerusalem that reports on international NGO (non-governmental organisation) activity from a pro-Israel perspective.[”

        https://ngo-monitor.org/in-the-media/opinion-false-accusations-and-ideological-bias/

In addition to the above linked report critiquing Amnesty for bias against Ukraine – which also notes it had a budget of £350 million at that time (he who pays the piper, calls the tune) – it has also issued reports on the same theme in regard to Israel in the past.

That’s some more interesting company you are keeping and aligning your self with, Billy.

      4. “Dave – ¯\_(ツ)_/¯”

Still publicly displaying a subjective à la carte pick and choose approach to fact based reality I see, Billy.

Keep digging that hole, sucker. You fall for it every time. In fact, in terms of credibility in negative numbers, you can’t be too far away from your tinpot little hero, Herr Starmer.

  4. Entirely off-topic…

I’ve just seen an ad from what appears to be a payday lender with an APR of 1229%.

Is it a coincidence that these parasites seem to be making a brabe enough comeback to advertise their usury on tv, now we know that the smarmerite toerags are hellbent on imposing austerity and tanning the poorest, exactly like their political forefathers did from 2010?

    1. Yup, it’s war, Toffee. “…the smarmerite toerags are hellbent on imposing austerity and tanning the poorest, exactly like their political forefathers did from 2010”. Reeves’s Labour is joining the corporate war on democracy

Might be ‘off-topic’, but Israel’s mounting war on the people it occupies and LINO on the democracy, freedom of opinion and human rights of its people for one, single, shared reason: They fear and despise “the many, not the few”.

Starmer’s Labour (in name only) knows it will never be elected again. It doesn’t seem to mind that it’s making Reform and Farage look like a “sensible choice” at the next GE.

  5. So why did the UK Tory/Lab Govt take sides in the Near East (?) providing political support, arms sales & spy planes to the Occupation Force when Palestine/Palestinians have not declared war on Britain & and in fact have never meant us any harm.
It wasn’t Palestinians but Zionist fanatics who attacked working class British soldiers (the working class lads were just trying to keep the peace) in Palestine in the late 1940’s killing a number & hanging their bodies from trees. (See media of the time).
It was Zionist fanatics in the 1960’s who went into Arab villages & killed all the men women & children, threw their bodies into wells then went around nearby Arab villages with loud hailer vans telling them what they had done. (G.D. Smith, A 3,000 Year History of Palestine).
Perhaps it all goes back to 1919 & The Balfour Declaration: “We will have a little Jewish Ulster surrounded by a sea of Arab antagonism.” (In Regan.B, The Balfour Declaration).
The only difference now is that the USA has taken over the lead but it is still all about profits.
The Jewish Community are like all groups, they are wonderfully diverse and are NOT homogenous but the Zionists now seem to be pushing the view that there is only One Perspective, ‘One Truth’ – Zionism.
And disagree with this ‘One Truth’ (Zionism) and you are AS?
    Which is utterly ridiculous.
As Rosa Luxemburg argued the best thing we all bring to the table is our independent critical thinking.
But today critical thinking (that draws upon evidence) is under attack around the world.
“Why don’t you read a political book?
Why don’t you analyse a report or two?
Why don’t you look at arguments from both sides?
Before on evidence coming to your view.”
‘The Lumpen’ – The Big Red Freedom Train.

  6. Off-Topic again (sorry folks)

But regarding that dog’s abortion rudakabana serving a full-life term…

    Thr solution’s REALLY quite simple.

DON’T segregate the animal. Lob it in with the rest of the lags.

Sooner or later – and it’ll be sooner, therefore saving the taxpayer the cost of the rest of it’s sentence – justice will be meted out. 👍😉

  7. R was warped & not rational.
We should not reduce ourselves to the level of a killer.
Even to the point of pre-mediation (planning the execution).
What he did was horrendous but we are sane, rational human beings.

    1. How would WE be reducing ourselves to the level of a killer, Bazza?

Unless you personally want to chop the bastard into mincemeat?

Let the other murderers do it. It’s their level, it’s (release) therapy for them, and a saving to the taxpayer to keep the right happy.

Although the animal could always be experimented upon; at least that’ll make it some sort of use to society.

No skin off any free person’s nose. Certainly wouldn’t be missed.

An all-round win, if you ask me.
