Video: Israel breaks ‘ceasefire’ deal, bombing, shooting and killing civilians

Netanyahu demands captive list at last second while foreign minister Saar signals continued attacks during ‘ceasefire’

Israel continued bombing and killing Palestinian civilians in Gaza this morning, within moments of the supposed start of the ceasefire supposed to come into force at 6.30am GMT today.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu ‘delayed’ the start of the ceasefire, demanding a full list of Israeli captives to be released – a list of first-phase captives was released weeks ago, was publicised earlier this week by Israeli media, and further names were supposed to be released in phase two:

The Times of Israel last Friday.

As Palestinians went out onto the streets believing the ceasefire to have begun, Israel continued bombing them:

Journalist Anas al-Sharif’s caption accompanying this video read: “Despite starting ceasefire agreement: Breaking, Israeli occupation forces fire at a number of citizens, leaving 3 martyrs and more than 20 injured east of Gaza City.”

After a full list was released in response to the demand the ceasefire has notionally begun, almost three hours late. However, in typical ambiguous style for the Israeli government, foreign minister Gideon Saar announced that the ceasefire had begun in order to release the Israeli captives, but that Israel will not stop its ‘war’ on Gaza until Hamas has been completely neutralised – an aim the Israeli military has failed to achieve during fifteen months of genocide.

There is no future for peace and security as long as Hamas remains in power in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli foreign minister Gideon Saar.

More victims today of a technicality that was not a requirement in the original deal. Who can trust Israel to honour its word going forward?

  1. As Alexi Sayle told us over a year ago “they lie and they lie. and they lie and they lie. and they lie …..”

  2. No half-serious person will expect this genocide to cease until Israel and Israelis actually WANT to live in peace, by ensuring that Palestinians can have their own country, free of Israeli aggression and rule. WE STILL have the media calling Palestinian abductees “prisoners” not what they really are – hostages, subjected to violence, torture and rape.

  3. WHY the absolute F are the names of the hostages so important as to be used as a threat?

They’re getting them back is the main thing.

    What next?

“Oh, this hostage has a torn t-shirt on, so 1000 women & kids must die.”

And STILL keef, biden (for his last day) and the rest of the gobshites will excuse it.

Got to have their way. They had a holocaust y’know. Gives them the exclusive right to commit one themselves.

    Hope they get fookin nuked.

    1. “Hope they get fookin nuked.”

I’ve held my tongue on this for a long time, now. A well-placed blockbuster on The Knesset, synced with the bombing of the illegal settlements, may be what it’s going to take. But who’s going to do it?

I can imagine the furore a comment like this may cause, never mind the actual action.

      Antisemitism! Antisemitism! Antisemitism! Antisemitism! Antisemitism!

It’s not! It’s anti-Zionism, laced with a dose of reality. They can shove their IHRA definition of anti-Semitism where the sun don’t shine.

If Zionists are going to insist on a Palestinian Genocide, they are entitled to expect the consequences.
