While claiming agreement will be ratified, wanted war criminal PM is demanding changes designed to sink it
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed today that his cabinet will ratify the supposed Gaza ceasefire deal whose details involve the complete withdrawal of the occupation military from the vital Rafah crossing and the ‘corridors’ that Israel is using to divide and isolate Gaza and launch attacks on its people.
But at the same time – while claiming, without evidence, that Palestinian militia groups are reneging on the deal – Netanyahu is demanding last-minute changes to the deal that he knows the other side cannot accept and which would leave Gaza still isolated and under the control of the occupation. Muhammad Shehada of human rights group Euro-Med monitor explained Netanyahu’s manoeuvres:
Skwawkbox has warned that the ‘deal’ is a US-Israeli organised scam designed to extend the occupation and allow Israel to keep slaughtering civilians even if it is agreed – but old habits die hard and Netanyahu seems unwilling even to allow the starving, freezing civilians of Gaza even a brief reprieve. While his military intensifies its bombing during the supposed ‘conflict pause’ leading up to the scheduled beginning of the ceasefire on Sunday, he is busy trying to prevent it going into effect at all.
