Israel already breaking ‘ceasefire’ deal, pounding Gaza City with heavy bombs

Gaza ‘ceasefire’ looks set to follow pattern of Israel’s constant breaches of Lebanese agreement

As Palestinians celebrated the prospect of at last seeing peace and the prospect of rebuilding their lives after a ‘ceasefire’ agreement was announced this evening, Skwawkbox warned that Israel’s record, littered with trashed and broken agreements – including, most recently, its constant attacks on Lebanon after agreeing a ceasefire there and its manoeuvres to threaten Lebanon from the east after the fall of Syria’s Assad government – meant that the likelihood of Israel actually honouring its agreement were not good.

And tragically, Israel has already broken the ceasefire with a huge bombardment of Gaza City in the north of the Strip that is taking place now and has already killed at least 30 Palestinians – after the deal was announced.

Journalist Anas al-Sharif, who earlier had removed his protective vest in celebration, put it back on to report on one of the massacres:

The official ceasefire begins on Sunday, but the deal of which it is part says that a ‘conflict pause’ came into force as soon as the announcement was made – but rather than pause Israel is intensifying its bombing, a clear breach of the reported terms of the agreement.

Leaked details of what Trump promised Israel in return for the agreement are already being reported in the Israeli media – and it includes the ‘right’ of Israel to break the deal and recommence bombing and military operations whenever it wishes. It seems to wish so from the outset, just as it did in Lebanon.

The people of Gaza deserve peace and full compensation for Israel’s genocide, destruction and illegal occupation. None of them are in sight yet.

  1. What I learned from reports of the ceasefire. Of which I may have misunderstood. The ceasefire doesn’t start for another 3 days. Giving genocidal Israel plenty of opportunity to carry on murdering Palestinians.

  2. Sunday is ceasefire day Monday no doubt will be back to slaughtering children
