Israeli TV station broadcasts war crime footage

Footage broadcast by an Israeli TV station shows the arrest of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of the now-destroyed Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, who became a global icon after his and his colleagues’ refusal to abandon their patients despite constant Israeli attacks and after an image emerged and went viral showing him walking toward Israeli tanks after the final destruction of his hospital.

The Kamal Adwan was set on fire yesterday after occupation forces stormed the hospital, burning to death a number of patients too sick to evacuate, and the doctors who refused to leave them. Hundreds of other patients and staff were forced out at gunpoint half-naked and illegally detained, with some reporting that they were later tortured. Now new video shows Dr Abu Safiya’s arrest:

The Israeli military has claimed that the Kamal Adwan’s activities will be transferred to the nearby Indonesian Hospital. However, this has already been rendered inoperable by Israeli attacks and demolition, as a video posted by an Israeli soldier boasting of its destruction shows:

Mass calls are being made by medics’ groups, human rights organisations and others for the immediate release of Dr Hussam and the others illegally detained.
