Party accused of ‘gaslighting’ with new job for right-winger
Labour has ‘proudly’ and ‘delightedly’ announced that former Barking MP Margaret Hodge is the party’s new ‘anti-corruption champion’, leading to accusations of gaslighting and an array of pointers to the record of the right-winger who was made a baroness on her retirement from the Commons after years of attacking Jeremy Corbyn and the left and drawing comparisons between the party’s (later-abandoned) disciplinary process for calling then-party leader Jeremy Corbyn a ‘f***ing antisemite and a racist’ and the nazis’ treatment of Jews in Germany.
Almost any X post that party figures made about the appointment were badly ‘ratioed’ – a sign of an unpopular post – as the replies were flooded with expressions of disgust and reminders of Hodge’s past, like this one from fellow right-winger Dan Jarvis:
