‘The occupation finds new ways to kill us every day’. But we must not look away
A man has been killed in the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahiya, which is under constant attack by Israeli forces and is being starved by Israel’s blockade, by a direct hit from an incendiary or smoke bomb. The bomb appears to have crushed the man’s head and entered his body, where those nearby were unable to extinguish it.
Palestinian journalist Hossam Shbat, one of a handful of surviving reporters in northern Gaza and who was himself wounded by an Israeli strike last week, said:
From inside the besieged Beit Lahya area in northern Gaza, a smoke bomb was used on his head, the scene speaks about the cruelty of the occupiers.
Local man Wissam Nassar queried how the world can stand by when such horrors are being inflicted on human beings:
What does it mean to be human, are we truly like the rest of humanity?
And journalist Nahed Hajjaj commented heartbreakingly that ‘the occupation finds new ways to kill us every day’:

The killing, along with dozens of others today, comes as rumours spread in Gaza of a new Israeli weapon being used on civilians that ‘evaporates’ its victims. The reports cannot yet be substantiated but are being taken seriously by Palestinian journalists.
Is there no end to Israel’s war crimes and inhumanity?
