Video: as govt wages war on anti-genocide journalists, Labour MP complains about right-winger questioned over hate speech

Israel supporter Graham Stringer condemns ‘Stasi-like’ police for questioning Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson about a tweet smearing innocent Muslims as ‘Jew-haters’ – no MPs condemned string of left-wing journalist arrests

With the UK government and its police continue to wage an escalating war on journalists and activists for speaking out about Israel’s genocide in Gaza – which has killed around 200,000 civilians so far and is weaponising starvation against two million more – MPs and ‘mainstream’ media have remained silent.

But during Prime Minister’s Questions today, run by the deputy leaders because Keir Starmer is out of the country, Israel-supporting right-wing Labour MP Graham Stringer – one of four Labour right-wingers who saved Tory Theresa May in 2018 – condemned Essex police’s ‘Stasi-like’ questioning of Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson.

Pearson was questioned, reportedly, for a tweet a year ago in which she smeared Manchester Pakistani-Britons as ‘Jew haters’:

The police officers pictured are from Greater Manchester Police, not the Met, and the flag held by the civilians is a Pakistani flag, not a Palestinian one – with the word ‘Pakistan’ clearly visible. As well as smearing them as ‘Jew haters’, she made clear that she considers supporters of apartheid, genocidal Israel to be ‘lovely’ and ‘peaceful’.

But Stringer, like other MPs silent on the state’s war on free speech on Palestine and the Gaza genocide, was horrified and demanded deputy PM Angela Rayner’s agreement that police should be focusing on dealing with burglars and shoplifters rather than on such trivialities:

But when Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy are engaged in blatant genocide denial while the state wages a campaign of criminalisation and intimidation on journalists who expose that genocide, it’s hardly surprising that their lackeys and fellow-travellers are silent about it – while blathering about those questioned over allegations of genuine wrongdoing.

  1. He is a strange one Graham Stringer. A friend of a friend of mine back in the day, and if memory serves he was quite left wing during his time as Leader of Manchester City Council. Quite what happened after that I don’t know – he claims ‘dyslexia does not exist’, climate change denier and other shall we say ‘controversial’ views – but really, supporting Allison Pearson at PMQs? Bizarre.

  2. but really, supporting Allison Pearson at PMQs? Bizarre

Not really. Stringer’s a tory himself. Probly after a puff-piece about how he’s One of the good far-left socialist dangers to the British way of life or some such tripe that that batshit rag (through the utterly batshit Pearson) would churn out.

  3. An illiterate working for a Tory broadsheet…

She is just as guilty of stirring racial tensions as the recent rioters. Jail her.

At last, an outbreak of common sense from Essex Police. After a mounting backlash – with Boris Johnson, Elon Musk and Nigel Farage expressing their dismay – the boys in blue have decided to drop their investigation into Telegraph journalist Allison Pearson. The Crown Prosecution Service advised that no charges should be brought against Pearson after reviewing the case, with Essex Police concluding that no further action would thus be taken. At last…

    1. It is most fortunate for this sorry excuse for a journalist who can’t distinguish a Pakistani flag from a Palestinian one that it is not a criminal offence to be a dickhead. At least for the time being. Though in the present context of the so-called “Rules based order” it would seem reasonable to qualify that by recognising that it all depends on which side of the political spectrum you are on.

Certainly, if this incident had been a journalist from outside the corporate billionaire owned oligarch media who had referred to the police in such terms, their feet would never have touched the ground.

This is an example of the other side of that equation, where rules/laws are discarded when is convenient, depending upon who is involved. Very much like inside an authoritarian fascist dictatorship.

      1. Dave – ” Very much like inside an authoritarian fascist dictatorship.”

Yes she should be thankful that she doesn’t live in Russia which is run by the corrupt fascist dictator Putin who maintains himself in power through brutality and fear. Imprisoning, torturing and/or murdering anyone who opposes him so that he and his cronies can continue to enrich themselves by stealing from the Russian people.

      2. In the thread prior to this one our resident shill posted a reply to the first comment (posted by Nicola) within twenty-one minutes, and I posted a comment at 7.29 this morning in that thread to draw everyones attention to the fact that he did so (I also said that he’s probably sleeping now, and that the first thing he’ll do when he wakes up is come on to skwawkbox and, as such, post a reply to what I said, and, in doing so, I knew that he WOULDN’T. And he DIDN’T!).

And it’s precisely because of what I said that he left it for about an hour before he responded to Dave’s 7.45pm post! Going back several years or more, the SteveH shill used to regularly post replies to people within a few minutes, until, that is, I picked up on the fact and pointed it out to readers!

Anyway, in case you didn’t see it, here’s a link to my post this morning:

I wonder if he’ll respond to THIS one, and how long he’ll leave it before he does, if he DOES. Oh, and I should point out that when I used to post quite regularly on here (but no-where near as much as HE did), there were periods when he literally stalked me continuously.

      3. Oh dear Allan, you are getting more than a little bit weird again. 😔

“there were periods when he literally stalked me continuously.”

………and yet here you are stalking me.🤔

Given that by your own admission you used to obsessively monitor, time and count my posts I was always under the impression that you were the one doing the stalking. I had thought that you were getting better and that you had sorted yourself out but it appears that you are slipping back into your old habits again. 😟

      4. Have you got some actual substantive evidence to present other than this post-modernist this is so because I individually and subjectively define it as so, Billy?

If you have, get on with it. If not, best you bow out now, as you are only further degrading your non-existent credibility into negative numbers territory.

      5. Dave – Could you please clarify precisely what you are disputing.

      6. PS: Billy, will you be providing an original view of your own on the spectator article you have quoted above?

Or is it to be taken as read that the act of posting it along with a quote from the article is sufficient to conclude you approve of the action taken, which the article details?

  5. The contents of your 08:43 pm post of 21/11/24 will suffice for the moment, Billy.

Though I’d give some thought to the old adage about being careful what you wish for rather than continuing to fall hook, line, sinker and copy of Angling Times for the propaganda of The Official Narrative before responding.

It will save you yet more serious embarrassment later on.

    1. Ah. Tumbleweed from the (alleged) Caribbean, again.

      Who would’ve thought!
