No, the Houthis didn’t announce a ceasefire after Trump’s election

Fake claim appears to be right-wing propaganda, Yemeni group has said it will not stop blocking Gulf to Israel-bound ships until Israel ceases its genocide in Gaza

Claims have been circulating that the Yemeni Houthi group has announced a ceasefire in the wake of Donald Trump’s win in the US presidential election. The claim was made by the ‘Zerohedge’ site based on Twitter claims then repeated by a single Indian online source and subsequently amplified by the ‘BRICSinfo’ Twitter account:

The claim is fake. The Houthis have said since they began their campaign of attacks on Israel-bound shipping that they will not stop their attacks until Israel ceases its genocide in Gaza – and the most recent post on the group’s official Twitter/X account, at the time of writing, was a warning that it still considers Israel-bound vessels and those owned by Israeli shipping companies, in text and in a video post, posted three days ago that they ‘remain with [Yemen’s] punitive measures’:

BRICSinfo has since deleted its post.

Trump is expected to tell the US military to step up its attacks on the Houthis, but the claim that the group has suspended its operations – which have already brought one Israeli port to bankruptcy – appears to be right-wing or pro-Israel (or both) propaganda.

  1. Many citizens of the surrounding Arab states, whose citizens are so angry at the carnage going on in Gaza, are being kept on a leash by their despotic rulers, but not the Houthis who are honorable people, hope they can acquire more hypersonic missiles.
Also the US are worse than the Mafia and would think nothing of killing anyone who interferes with its geopolitical machinations, especially when Israel is concerned.
This is incredible, here we have approx 7 million Israelis in a postage stamp sized state threatening the whole of the Islamic world [well over one and a half billion Muslims] including approx 400 million Muslims in the surrounding countries, and what have these countries done, f— all, no oil embargo, no trade embargo, are they waiting to be attacked themselves which is an inevitability, or are they hoping for a peaceful couple of months were they can become the slobbering slaves of Israel/US and hope they will not be turned on next. Gandhi hated cowards, Mahatma Gandhi “I do believe that where there is only a choice between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence…I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor.” In other words Jordan, Egypt and other Gulfies are cowards [half men] who are afraid of the US/Israeli financial consequences or more likely the big stick coming down on their heads, they have no self respect.

  2. I believe it.s just a matter of time before the people of Jorden and Egypt turn on their own GoV for supporting Genocide I hope the people hang sisi and the king of Jorden who are complicit in Genocide

  3. Slightly Off-topic.
“It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them.” – Bernie Sanders

    You paying attention Reeves, Starmer?

    1. qwertboi – I don’t think they care. The historical record demonstrates that such ciphers prefer populism goes to the extreme right rather than tilt a single iota towards parties offering policies which are considered ‘left wing’.

      1. of course they don;t care about working people. “Third way” neoliberalism doesn’t see ordinary or poor people as a ‘client group’. Decency, fairness, morality…. alien concepts only referred to and used as PR.

  4. Heads I win Tails you lose
It has been called the first Billionaires election, they had both sides covered, there are no limits to funding anymore
Can someone explain to them what happens next
As for the Yanks proxies in the Middle East they and every US base will be hit if the War with Iran escalates
Trump knows at what cost this would be to America
Keep saying it, very bad for business and there is a limit when ordinary citizens in the States will bear the cost of a global economic meltdown
    Something has to give
Let’s hope Bibi and his Genocidal maniacs are proper fucked
