Video: Israeli troops prevent West Bank Palestinians harvesting olives, beat observers

Israeli soldiers filmed preventing Palestinians from harvesting olives in West Bank – then beat those filming them. The same is happening across the West Bank

Activist Andrey X filmed Israeli soldiers preventing Palestinians near Bethlehem from harvesting their own olives, on land owned and farmed by their families for centuries in the occupied West Bank:

The Israeli military has long persecuted and harassed local Palestinian people, or provided protect for illegal settlers to seize land and brutalise farmers – and Israel has a long history of harassing and even killing journalists who expose their actions.

Andrey X said on Instagram:

All over the West Bank human rights advocates are recording human rights violations by the IOF during the olive harvest.

Across the occupied West Bank in Qusra on Monday, Israeli troops attacked delegates from leftist group Progressive International as they observed Palestinians attempting to harvest their olives. Two weeks ago, in Faqoua in the northern West Bank, 59yo Palestinian woman Hanan Abdel Rahman Abu Salama was shot dead by Israeli troops, or settlers dressed in army uniforms, as she attempted to harvest her own olives with her family. A volley of fire at the rest of her family missed.

Israel has also destroyed many Palestinian olive groves entirely, some of them containing vines hundreds or even thousands of years old, as the Zionist regime seeks to eradicate even the memory of the Palestinian people from land it covets, as this video from Israeli human rights group B’Tselem notes:

In nearby, besieged northern Gaza, Israel is engaged in a campaign of extermination against the entire surviving population of around 400,000 civilians, starving and bombing them out and killing those who refuse to leave as well as shooting at those who do leave as they attempt to flee to supposed ‘safe’ areas.

  1. How much it would take for the for the West to realise that the only option to stop peacefully these abuses is to start applying BDS to the whole of Israel no only the occupied territories.
Spain has already cancelled arm contracts with Israel and France is stopping Israel’s arm manufactures to attend their selling fairs.
Although good starting points, it isn’t enough. The West needs to start imposing BDS on Israel, no only on arms but on everything Israel produced and refuse to export to Israel.
An individual level each person needs to stop buying, tomatoes, dates etc that come from Israel, and stop buying products from companies that trade with Israel. Nobody can force us to buy something we don’t wish to buy, we all have a duty to participate in BDS against Israel.

    1. 100% agree Maria – and I’d add that the banning of UNRWA on 28-Oct-’24 makes BDS against Israel more necessary.

UNRWA is only the UN Agency tasked with the implementation of UN General Assembly Resolution 194 which entails the ‘right of return” of all Palestinians (since 1948) to the land of their origin.

So, over and above the ‘plausible genocide’ of innocent people, this attempt to block UNRWA is actually force of hand by a rogue apartheid state and a rejection of the UN.

Our Governments cannot stop their citizens from exercising economic choice when making purchases, so BDS is a valid option for everyone and one I suddenly feel compelled to use where Israel is concerned.

  2. The RotWorld already accept there is no way back for Israel and the Yanks and the unequivocal supporters
