‘Temporary’ ban imposed on assistant professor accused of stalking and abusing female students
Shai Davidai, the notorious pro-Israel Columbia University assistant professor whose inflammatory videos and rhetoric about peaceful anti-genocide protesters at the university’s campus must have driven thousands to support them, has been banned from campus by the university’s management, pending training on how to behave toward fellow staff that he appears disinclined to take. He had been under investigation since March.
A Columbia spokesperson told Middle East Eye:
Columbia has consistently and continually respected Assistant Professor Davidai’s right to free speech and to express his views. His freedom of speech has not been limited and is not being limited now. Columbia, however, does not tolerate threats of intimidation, harassment, or other threatening behavior by its employees.
[We have] temporarily limited his access to campus while he undertakes appropriate training on our policies governing the behavior of our employees.
Davidai posted the news to his Instagram in a now-removed video, claiming that he had been banned,
Because I was not afraid to stand up to the hateful mob. And because I was not afraid to expose [Columbia administrator] Mr fucking Cas Holloway.
He was filmed walking the opposite way through students, then complaining to Holloway that he was being elbowed and kicked – no such blows appear to be captured on video – before comparing Holloway to a ‘useless administrator in nazi Germany’.

Davidai has been accused by female students of stalking and harassing female students:

Although the ban was imposed after Davidai intimidated staff, students – including many female students – celebrated the news, although many were also critical of the university for only acting because of Davidai’s behaviour toward staff:

Davidai is also named by a former Columbia staff member, in his lawsuit against Columbia, who says that Davidai’s comments led to threats that eventually forced him to leave the country:

Despite a year of his conduct toward students, the university has confirmed that Davidai’s ban arises directly from his harassment of employees last week.
Davidai said that he had been suspended because he posted a video of Holloway ‘allowing a Hamas march’ on the campus and described Holloway as “a little man with a big ego and a smug smile”, before posting Holloway’s email address on X so that Davidai’s fans could “can tell him exactly what you think of him.”
