Starmer, Lammy silent on rogue state’s illegal assault

Unifil, the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon of peacekeepers, has issued the following statement on this morning’s attacks by Israel, using tanks and irritant chemical shells, on its base in Ramyah in Lebanon and Israel’s blocking of Unifil movements at Meiss ej Jebel yesterday:
UNIFIL statement (13 October 2024)
Early this morning, peacekeepers at a UN position in Ramyah observed three platoons of IDF soldiers crossing the Blue Line into Lebanon.
At around 4:30 a.m., while peacekeepers were in shelters, two IDF Merkava tanks destroyed the position’s main gate and forcibly entered the position. They requested multiple times that the base turn out its lights. The tanks left about 45 minutes later after UNIFIL protested through our liaison mechanism, saying that IDF presence was putting peacekeepers in danger.
At around 6:40 a.m., peacekeepers at the same position reported the firing of several rounds 100 metres north, which emitted smoke. Despite putting on protective masks, fifteen peacekeepers suffered effects, including skin irritation and gastrointestinal reactions, after the smoke entered the camp. The peacekeepers are receiving treatment.
In addition, yesterday, IDF soldiers stopped a critical UNIFIL logistical movement near Meiss ej Jebel, denying it passage. The critical movement could not be completed.
For the fourth time in as many days, we remind the IDF and all actors of their obligations to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and property and to respect the inviolability of UN premises at all times.
Breaching and entering a UN position is a further flagrant violation of international law and Security Council resolution 1701 (2006). Any deliberate attack on peacekeepers is a grave violation of international humanitarian law and Resolution 1701. UNIFIL’s mandate provides for its freedom of movement in its area of operations, and any restriction on this is a violation of Resolution 1701.
We have requested an explanation from the IDF from these shocking violations.
Israel is a rogue state that demonstrates its contempt for international law and agreed conventions daily. Despite the attacks happening yesterday and early this morning, UK PM Keir Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy have been silent on these outrages.

I’d say it’s about time the ibf were on the end of a good pasting.
In my opinion, the israeli state’s cavalier disregard for international law, coupled with it’s population’s apparent support for their actions, renders them the same fair game as they consider Palestinian and Lebanese non-combatants to be.
So, for me, they can all cop for what they’re happy to dole out. They’ve given no quarter, they can’t expect any.
This might be what they’re going to cop for (and might be what’s delaying Israel’s response to Iran’s missile strike)…

Here, here!!!
Starmer and Lammy are war criminals who should be behind bars, and every day that they are free is a reminder we live in a corrupt country with two-tier, politically motivated policing.
It should come as no surprise that rogue state Israel has not signed international conventions on nuclear, biological and chemical weapons: it is jaw-dropping though that it is prepared to deploy such weapons against the UN so that it can invade Lebanon unhindered and countries like America are pouring petrol on the fire.
I look forward to South Africa prosecuting my country (and most MPs) at the ICC for war crimes: it can’t happen soon enough.
Thousands of Lebanese dead, and hospitals and schools bombed using depleted uranium, Israel attacking Unifil peacekeepers, and what does the USA do? Send bigger weapons and American operators for them? Either USA and UK politicians are completely barking, or I am. And I’m pretty sure it isn’t me.

‘Death sentence’: Asbestos released by Israel’s bombs will kill for decades
Israel’s relentless bombardment of Gaza has unleashed yet another deadly, but silent enemy on the people there – asbestos………..
………….Over the past year, Israel’s bombs have caused vast amounts of it to be broken into tiny, airborne particles, which can potentially cause cancer in those who breathe it in, leading experts to say cases of cancer will likely be reported “for decades” in Gaza………….
………..According to United Nations estimates, some 800,000 tonnes of the bombed-out debris across Gaza may be contaminated with asbestos.
This is a “death sentence” for Palestinians trapped in Gaza, leading asbestos expert Roger Willey told Al Jazeera.
According to the World Trade Center Health Program, 4,343 survivors and first responders have died from related illnesses since the attack compared to the 2,974 people who died on September 11.
“It’s going to be exactly the same in Gaza,” Willey continued.
“[A]irborne concentrations [of asbestos] … will be enormously high, and that is guaranteed mesothelioma,” Willey said, referring to a cancer that commonly forms in the lining around the lungs or abdomen.

Have they had that wingnut-head hagari on yet, waving his arms about and telling us all how the cowardly attack has failed??
Or perhaps that other helmet mencer – who shrieks even more higher-pitched than weasly screeching, and makes mike (sour) gapes’ ribena-berry head look ages away from detonation – trying to blame UNIFIL?
Either way, it might only be 3/60, but the air of invulnerability has disappeared into the ether, now.
If the ibf missed it, there’s not much the yanks can do in the same situation to prevent repeats.

Israel must be expelled from the United Nations: the conditions are ripe:
https://www.sott.net/article/495439-International-legal-expert-Israel-must-be-expelled-from-the-United-Nations#comment508955
“Given such sustained and repeated criminal behaviour, there are grounds for Israel’s expulsion from the United Nations. According to Article 6 of the UN Charter, “a Member of the United Nations which has persistently violated the Principles contained in the present Charter may be expelled from the Organization by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council”.
However, it is clear that Western states in the Security Council, particularly the United States — complicit in Netanyahu’s criminal actions — will use their veto power to block such a proposal, once again obstructing the proper functioning of the international organisation and the enforcement of international law. Nonetheless, it would be equally important for the UN General Assembly to vote on such a resolution, giving free expression to the condemnation of Israel that now comes from the vast majority of the world’s countries as well as from international public opinion.
Such a declaration of principle should be followed by the imposition of sanctions under Article 41 and, if these measures prove insufficient, it could lead to multilateral military action under Article 42. This would complete the procedural steps outlined in Chapter VII of the Charter to end threats to international peace and security.
The adoption of these measures by the General Assembly and by a large number of states represents a necessary response to the grave threat to world peace posed by the criminal policies of the Netanyahu government, determined to provoke a nuclear conflict to avoid legal accountability, as well as by the equally criminal complicity of Western nations, led by the United States, today headed by a president who is a shadow of himself and therefore the shadow of a shadow.”
