Grasping ‘Labour’ PM’s excuses seem to be unravelling
Keir Starmer’s freebie woes continue to escalate, after a party conference dominated by talk of his and his wife’s donor-funded designer clothes and pop concerts – and those of an array of his front-benchers, including Chancellor Rachel ‘Freeze’ Reeves.
News broke that Starmer had also accepted a £20 grand donation from Labour peer Waheed Alli – the same donor who coughed up thousands for Mr and Mrs S’s personal-shopper-driven clothing sprees and who then received a personal Downing Street access pass – for ‘accommodation’, which Starmer told the BBC was to provide his son with an environment conducive to him doing well in his GCSEs:
At the beginning of the election, which we didn’t know when it was going to be called, my boy was in the middle of his GCSEs.
I made him a promise that he’ll be able to get to his school, do his exams without being disturbed.
The dates of Starmer Jr’s stay at the apparently 5-star hotel were reportedly from 29 May this year to 13 July – but the GCSE exam period ended on 19 June. Starmer’s son stayed very nearly a whole month after the scheduled end of his exams, long beyond the point of needing it to ‘do his exams without being disturbed’ and eight days after the end of the general election.
Starmer’s attempt to talk himself out of another donation scandal looks very shaky indeed.

Parties should be funded only by subscription. Stop private donors, business and unions being able to sub them. Ditto MPs.
